What are Compact Fluorescents and How Can I use them for Growing?

You can also buy bathroom fixtures that hold up to 5 or 6 light bulbs.

never thought about using pre built fixtures and my bathroom has 2 of this type that holds 4 bulbs each.lol

I always read to use "cool and warm" cfl's. I have bought 2, 4 ft. 45w. plant grow light tubes from Home Depot, they are suppose to be a full spectrum of light. Does anyone know if they will work for both stages? I am assuming they will work for at least the veg stage, clones, and seedlings. Thank you.

hey everybody,

Just wondering if anyone could help me out. I'm trying to use a 75W reptile tank light to grow my marijuana. It was going fine for a week or so and there all about 2 inches tall with 4 leaves but there starting to wilt and aren't very strong at all. Is the reptile light not good enough or does it just mean my light isn't far enough or not close enough to the the plants?

Any help would be awesome!

yo...thats simply a "white light"...if you're gonna grow...you gotta at least...at the very least get the fluorescent "grow lights"(blue looking light)...you need different spectrums later for sure...but you'll get away with that i just mentioned for a few weeks (extremely close too)-like 2 inches and get like three...one on top-2 inches away...and one just below the top on each side almost touching or touching...most have a little clear plastic guard...they dont get hot...and every chance you get-put it in the sun too...later you'll do great with CFL's...the higher the wattage the better...I got 3 68watt CFL's...two on top and one half way down...a blue fluro...and an extra 27watt CFL...you gotta get mad light on it...because truely the best are HPS and MH...just keep reading "how to grow" forums and you'll be alright...just remember plants are forgiving...stay on top of it and dont over analyize...think sun and artifical lights for 24 hrs at the most-16 hrs at the least...water it by keeping the dirt moist deep down but not water logged...you will kill it with root rot...poke holes to let CO2 down by the roots...mist it every three days or so...just think like a plant. remember just dont over think it...like i did...at least i got lucky at first...and researched like a mu f$cker as I went...hit me up for any more questions...below is my plant-by doing the same im tellin you to do

you need more for flowering...trust me...read my post above

Fluros or cfl's.....can grow the plant, however a lot of wattage is required, hence using a MH or HPS, as they by far are better and faster......meaning higher yields and more of them.
