He never showed the diagram of the filter and why it is important. Does anyone know?

It keep the end of the joint open so that you get smooth hits all the way through and it doesn't gum up at the end. Also, if you do it right it blocks any crumbs from comming out and getting stuck to the back of your throat. lol

Akorn's tip of the day...make sure the consistency of the "fill" material is even. that helps A LOT! Buy a good grinder...or some nice sharp scissors and a shot glass works great too.
