Watering from bottom tray?
For my next indoor soil grow, I have new pots with trays underneath. Has anyone ever watered from the bottom tray instead of from top? Would there be any advantage?

Re: Watering from bottom tray?
yep, several even...
but watering from below your top soil stays dry, which make it very unlikely to get those lil flies of which the maggots eat your roots. Also apparently the plant moves a lot of waste to it's bark, and by watering most people just flush that right back in the medium. I've been doing it for quite some time with great results. don't forget to put a lil layer of claygrains(?) in the bottom |

Thanks Sly, By claygrains do you mean kitty litter? And do I put the layer in the tray or in the pot before putting the dirt in?

Also it allows the roots to uptake what water it needs though the soil instead of drowning the roots in too much water.
