Acehnese Marijuana Trafficker Sentenced To Death In Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR - A Shah Alam court in Selangor had sentenced a resident of Langsat, Aceh, to death by hanging after proven guilty for possessing and trafficking 906 grams of marijuana in Malaysia.

Judge Su Geok Yiam on Monday sentenced Hendra Gunawan (29) to death by hanging.

Hendra was arrested on March 1, 2004 at a gas filling station in Subang Jaya 9 p.m. when he was driving a Proton Wira car which was stopped by the police. The car was also impounded.

During an investigation, the police found a paper bag containing red plastic holding 906 grams of marijuana. The police found the paper bag in the back of the driver`s seat.

"The condemned man has a wife and child in Aceh. Before going to Malaysia, Hendra was a cloth seller in Aceh. Before leaving for Malaysia, he told his family that he planned would visit his sibling`s grave.

He planned to appeal to a high court in Putrajaya, Saiful Aiman, his intepreter, said.

That is unreal and very sad............you die for having a plant that makes people feel better and has never killed a single person in the history of the world.
 
They enact these laws to protect their citizens from a dangerous plant. Who is protecting them from their government? Death for a plant.
 
There are lots of people in western countries who think drug abuse would go away if we whacked the dealers, yet these countries seem to have no end of executions for drug dealing. China, who claimed to have eliminated drug abuse (not counting alcohol) seems able to line up a bunch of victims to celebrate world anti-drug day or whatever they call it.
