Two New York men were arrested on Sunday after police found marijuana in their car as they approached the Lincoln Tunnel, according to Port Authority police.

Sandeep Singh, 27, of Richmond Hill, N.Y., and Anatoliy Baltachi, 25, of Rockaway, N.Y., were found with marijuana in a van with New Jersey commercial license plates outside the entrance of the Lincoln Tunnel in Weehawken, said Port Authority police spokesman Joe Pentangelo. Police were conducting commercial vehicle inspections, and while speaking to Singh, who was driving, officers smelled marijuana and noticed that his eyes were bloodshot, Pentangelo said. He was unable to specify the business the van was being used for.

Singh admitted to smoking some marijuana, and police found a plastic bag with less than 50 grams of the drug in the van's center console, he said. Police also found a silver pipe containing burnt marijuana on the van's floor, near the passenger seat, Pentangelo said.

Police impounded the vehicle and charged Singh with driving while under the influence of drugs, reckless driving and driving while under the influence of drugs in a school zone. Baltachi was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
