For the second time this month, a campaign seeking to legalize marijuana in Ohio has failed to clear a state hurdle.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine on Wednesday rejected a petition for the proposed End Ohio Cannabis Prohibition Act, citing a lack of adequate valid signatures.

The measure is backed by Responsible Ohioans for Cannabis. It proposes legalizing both medical and recreational marijuana statewide.

Earlier this week, DeWine rejected the initial petition of another similarly named group, ResponsibleOhio, due to problems with its summary.

That group has said it will try again to move forward with its proposal, which would legalize medicinal and recreational marijuana and create 10 authorized grow sites across the state.

A third legalization proposal, backed by Legalize Ohio, is under way in Cleveland.
