Canada: No Smoking This Medicine

A new online Cannabis dispensary based in Vernon is telling medical marijuana smokers to butt out.

"When you're using cannabis for medical purposes, smoking it isn't even close to the most effective way to ingest the natural medicines found in the plant," said Brad Flinders, a co-founder of the non-profit society The Flower of Life Compassion Club.

"We're breaking into new territory with some of our products."

The company is offering medicated edibles, including cannabis-infused teas and locally sourced cannabis-infused honey. In another section, they have glycerin and coconut oil tinctures and concentrated cannabis oils, and finally a line of skin care products — also infused with medical quality cannabis.

Unlike other dispensaries, no dried marijuana bud will be available for sale.

The company's website indicates it does provide local delivery and mail order services, although you'll need to be an endorsed member if you want to place an order.

"Signing up is much easier than most people think," said Selena Wong, another of the co-founders.

"There are a growing number of medical professionals who are seeing the benefits of cannabis as medicine."

The group also says it will provide several products that provide the medical benefits of marijuana without the psychoactive side-effects, which means users don't have to get high.

"There is no storefront to visit and none planned," said Flinders. "We simply want to provide tested, high-quality medicine to the people who need it the most, and being exclusively online helps us to keep our prices as low as possible."
