Joshua Robbin Rohl pleaded guilty in Queensland's Supreme Court today.

Prosecutor Michael Lehane told the court it was "a very sophisticated operation".

"The defendant was clearly an important member of a drug syndicate that trafficked prodigious amounts of cannabis," Mr Lehane said.

Rohl was arrested after by Queensland police after Operation Lima Wood investigated the unlawful trafficking of cannabis.

The Brisbane syndicate consisted of four men including Rohl, and all were charged as "vicious lawless associates" under Queensland's controversial Vicious Lawless Association Disestablishment Act 2013.

"The Brisbane syndicate purchased wholesale amounts of cannabis from producers in both south-east Queensland and Melbourne, Victoria," Mr Lehane told the court.

"The cannabis that was sourced from Victoria was from high-level wholesale suppliers and couriered to Brisbane by air and road."

The court was told the syndicated purchased up to 45-kilogram lots of cannabis and all its members acted as couriers.

Operation Lima Wood used covert physical surveillance, telephone intercept warrants, phone records, financial analysis, tactical interceptions and search warrants to bust the syndicate.

Mr Lehane said on most occasions, cannabis that was sourced in Melbourne was packaged in one-pound or 0.45 kilograms cryovaced parcels, which were placed in separate spaced bags.

"This packaging met an aim to avoid detection by drug detection dogs and reduced the volume of the packaged cannabis," Mr Lehane said.

"Couriers simply returned to Brisbane within days utilising domestic flights.

"They transported this sourced cannabis into luggage that they simply checked-in."

Rohl is to be sentenced next week.
