Yakima County Deputies Raid 6,000-Plant Marijuana Farm

A man checking for hunting locations told Yakima County sheriff's deputies he had found about 25 marijuana plants, but when authorities got there they found 6,000 worth an estimated $6 million.

Investigators spent Monday pulling the pot plants out of dense brush "up in the sticks" about two miles north of Rimrock Dam and about 10 miles east of White Pass, Deputy David Thompson said. No arrests were reported.

The discovery toward the end of the marijuana growing season followed helicopter surveillance that led to the discovery of more than 3,500 plants last week in Chelan, Okanogan and Kittitas counties, Chelan County Sheriff Michael T. Harum said. No arrests were reported in those raids, either.

Last month authorities seized 15,000 plants on Yakama tribal land, including 10,000 at a site near Glenwood. Also during August, Grant County authorities reported seizing more than 10,000 plants from 14 locations.
