Drug Bust Yields 550 Marijuana Plants

Hundreds of illegal plants, worth millions of dollars, has yielded one of the biggest drug busts the valley has ever seen.

Officers found the field about two months ago during a helicopter fly-over. Since that time, the area had been under surveillance.

Monday, the investigation wrapped up with the arrest of 55-year-old Jacob Vickers. His home is just a short walk from the illegal growth.

Officers say because of the amount being grown, it's likely the product was being sold.

A total of 550 plants were found on the plot of land in the woods. Officers say each plant could be worth $2000, making the bust a million dollar find.

Vickers is in the county jail. He's facing drug charges, plus a breaking and entering charge.

The property he was allegedly planting on actually belongs to the Eramet Plant.
