HB 2939 is scheduled for a vote in Oregon's House of Representatives in
Salem this Monday, April 28, but the House vote could be delayed until Tuesday, the 29th. Oregon residents, please contact House legislators in Salem and urge them to vote against HB 2939. For their contact info, look here: http://www.leg.state.or.us/house/houseset.htm HB 2939 would limit caregivers to only one patient, and only one garden could be at one location. Growers with experience, in other words, felons, could not be caregivers. This means the 20 people I am currently caregiver and growing medical marijuana for would have to find another caregiver. HB 2939 would mean more than half of the patients with caregivers would lose them. Over 1,500 cardholders would lose their caregivers if HB 2939 passes/ There are a lot of other bad changes in HB 2939. For the dirty details directly from the horses mouth, go here: http://www.leg.state.or.us/comm/sms/sms03/hb2939ahhs04-14-2003.pdf Hopefully we can kill HB 2939 here in the House in Salem. If it passes in Oregon's House, then it will first have to go to an Oregon Senate committee and pass there before it could go to a Senate floor vote. Thanks! Yours truly, Paul Stanford |
