About 1,200 pounds of marijuana was seized yesterday, ending several months of work by Louisville Metro Police narcotics officers in partnership with Drug Enforcement Administration agents. Five people were arrested and face federal charges of conspiracy to possess marijuana with intent to distribute, said Lt. Kim Kraeszig of the metro narcotics unit.
Ernesto Rojas, 41; Rigoberto Ochoa, 47; Yyette Ochoa, 26; Edmundo Portillo, 49; and Douglas Parrett, 33; were all arrested yesterday. Kraeszig said for several months, officers from the two agencies have worked the investigation to track millions of dollars worth of marijuana being brought into Louisville. With these arrests, Kraeszig said not only have the local distributors been identified, but also the Mexican suppliers. The marijuana seized yesterday has a street value of more than $1 million, Kraeszig said. All five of the suspects arrested yesterday will be held in federal detention. "It was a lot of man-hours and an outstanding job," Kraeszig said. Fla in the 50's, you even had to sign in market for 5lbs or more of sugar. Smuggling is as old as the U.S.A.! And makin yer own is even older. Outsiders, m.y.o.b.

I worked at a grocery store in Atlanta in the mid 70's and there was a limit as to the amount of sugar someone could buy. I think it was like twenty pounds.

Yeapper, WPB 95316 ('er was the York 316, I forget)
Cape Fox. Rehab-ed 95 footer with the bigger Cumming's engines and no struts to keep the 20 feet of unsupported shafts from wobblin' at top speed. Friggin' vibration from those shafts wobblin' would rattle your teeth if you stood on the fantail, where we norml-ly smoked They put the struts in the first time she went to dry dock. We traded the Cape York for her after the Cuban boatlift. This is the story that goes along with the pic : Now those are Bales :-) |
