Final Pot Vote Count Under Way

Ukiah, CA - Mendocino County election officials today started counting 10,385 absentee ballots cast in the June 2 primary, results that will determine the outcome of a hotly contested measure to repeal the county’s liberal marijuana guidelines.

County Clerk Sue Ranochak said the outcome might be known Friday. “We’re as eager as everyone else to get it done,” said Ranochak.

Measure B on election night appeared to win by a 52-48 percent margin. But most of the 16,364 ballots counted then were from the inland areas of Ukiah, Redwood Valley and Potter Valley, where the drive to repeal county marijuana rules originated.

As election night wore on, Measure B’s margin of victory tighten significantly as ballots began to be counted from more marijuana tolerant regions of the county including the Mendocino Coast, Anderson Valley and Willits/Laytonville.

With the final 40 percent of the total vote just now being counted, the outcome could change.

The Measure B campaign drew national attention to the scale of marijuana production in Mendocino and other rural counties. It also underscored the lack of uniform state guidelines surrounding individual’s use of marijuana for medical reasons.

If Measure B does pass, current county standards decriminalizing up to 25 marijuana plants per person will be repealed and more restrictive state guidelines of six plants put in place.

Even so, the effect will be unclear. As the Measure B campaign concluded, state guidelines were ruled unconstitutional by a state appellate court in Los Angeles.

I have to say this guys...you might want to start thanking your lucky stars at night that y'all even have a law that is for cannabis what so ever...try living in a "no tolerance state" for a while, where you cant even hardly find weed on the streets because the man has been so hard core in making arrests that the weed is either brown swag or in such short supply that you cant even find it...I'm sorry, but I cant sit here and feel sorry for someone that can only grow 6 plants, when I would have to pay a healthy fine and spend years in jail for 6 plants...just think about that the next time you feel cheated!!!
If you need more, just acquire your selves some G13 crosses and 6 plants worth of it will last you a long long time after harvest.
At least you can grow some one hit wonders that will keep you supplied long enough to harvest 6 more
Believe me, you guys are in pretty good shape compared to the situation me and so many others are in.
I'd give up a left nut to be able to grow 6 plants legally!!!

jimbo is exactly right here im happy for your 6 plants but it does suck having 2 buy marijuana off the streets and not being able 2 grow your own

well...what sucks is having to live in constant fear if you do grow your own meds.
Ahh...to be allowed to have 6 plants legally? That would be a dream come true in my state!
I would have the baddest most potent plants around...no shit!
