LED Grow Bulb Test

Okay so here's the deal; ive seen the led grow light bulbs on amazon and ebay but, haven't seen any videos or good reviews for them when used for cannabis... So i decided since im on a poor mans budget and have already experienced the average grows using mh/hps, flourescents, and outdoor i figured why not try LED so my setup is as follows:

x2 24 watt led grow bulbs

x1 Homegrown Fantaseeds Purple

x1 Greenhouse Seeds Super Lemon Haze

I know the bulbs im using are not exactly "yeild" effective but, hopefully i can perform a miracle and come out with an "okay yeild" if not then maybe some curious people will find this helpful.

So yesterday my cat decided to eat the purple and tip the SLH over so i had to make a quick decision and so i went DWC and so far the seedling is still alive of the SLH.

the seedling is in a 3 gal. lowes bucket
the medium is lava rocks
the water/ nutrient solution is extremely diluted cant give exact measurments
light schedule is 16-8
same 24w led grow bulb

The Super Lemon Haze looks like it grew three main heads, probably from stress or maybe im jus blind and its really 2 side shoots.

Plant: Super Lemon Haze

nutrients: Humboldt grow and verde

I put 1gal. suggested dose of nutrients then filled the rest of the bucket with plain water till 1 1/2" below the net pot.

And some root porn...

She seems to be coming along nicely, despite i haven't checked her in a couple days because i was out of town. Still using the same amount of nutrient solution/water.

Update/Correction

This is extremely late but, the buckets im using are actually 2gal. buckets

The nutrient solution is 6ml (Grow) and 5ml (Verde) per gal. then topped off with about 1and a half liters of water leaving it 1.5" from the bottom of the net pot. The medium is lava rocks, cant remember the brand but, i think i bought way more than needed lol anyways sorry for the misinformation i previousley posted just thought id fix that.

Today i received a low wattage LED grow light so i will be using this new light for the remainder of the grow, as i stated before though i will be using low wattage lights to see what i can get, the taotronics lights are ok lights but dont cover enough of the plant. I also decided to top the plant today.

16/8 light schedule

Super Lemon Haze

2gal. Homemade DWC setup

2 medium size airstones

Clay pebbles for medium with plant itself in a rockwool cube.

Update!

Light schedule switched to 12/12 last night

"Flushed" with plain water for 2 days then put 6ml humboldt nutes. Bloom and 6ml humboldt nutes. Ginormous.

I'm a little late to the game but I'm subbed up now. I'm digging your journal and your low wattage experiment. I was thinking about trying something similar with one of those ~$30 150 watt ufo grow lights from Ebay, so it was cool to stumble upon your journal. What do you think of the new panel so far? It looks like it does a great job of covering your plant. She looks awesome, btw. It'll be interesting to see how she does in flower.

I am currently in day 46 of flower (switch to 12/12), and I started with LED bulbs and a couple CFL's for spectrum. This grow was only an experiment as is yours, and I chose basic home Depot soil (mixed with a little FFOF), not nutes during veg and light feedings of FF Big Bloom during flower.
You're journal looks great, and the DWC seems to respond well with the new LED panel you installed. I'm subbed and definitely intrigued to see how your grow goes, seeing I'm doing something similar in comparison.

I wanted to try out the ufo light but the plant herself got alot wider than i expected with the 24w bulb, im liking the panel, the only problem is it gets a bit warm so IMO the maker should add a small fan to reduce heat but so far so good i cant wait to see the outcome.

Subbed. I've used the same LEDs on bromeliads and succulents in the past, never for 420 and have wondered how they would perform. This thread is just the ticket. Currently germing my 1st grow since the outdoor attempts of my youth 20+ years ago. Following with baited breath.

So i made a mistake by having the light too close to the tops and they got burnt and i had to remove the dead burnt heads

Roots are still good though.
