Any comments/questions/advice would be :welcome:'ed

Update: plants seem to be loving the new light.(they just got under it yesterday)
I think this should help with my watering...I feel they should be drinking more, under this more intense light they should. I thinnk my nute problem will show fix/worsen sooner now...?

How much water collects in the trays? Do the plants sit in the runoff?

If it were me, i would want more runoff, and minimize the time spent sitting in the runoff.

I like to use plenty of water, but still have the soil (or media) dry out as fast as possible, if that makes sense...

So why exactly? Just like a reason behind it.

Either way I like the idea of +water +runoff -timesitting

Thanks and thanks for keeping up :reading420magazine:

Got me. Its how i was shown...trying to get thrifty with the water just lead to problems for me.

Faster metabolism of the plant maybe? I think it should also reduce the risk of root rot or salt build up leaching off the trays and buliding up in the media.

I like it....
How much water for a gallon of soil do you recommend?

Thanks again!

Ideally I shoot for ~25%+/- run off. If i use a gallon of water, I want about a quart or more of run off.

There will be other opinions on this im sure. Thats one of the beauties of growing, we all learn from others, but eventually have to find our own style that works best for us.

More feastyness....

no worries!

I definitely think more volume of water, with more drain through, plus a maybe slight backing off on nutes for a few days will do wonders.

is that wood chips in the soil? I dont see "whats in the mix" listed in your OP.

EDIT:
and whats the baking soda for?

The soil is from a local garden shop...I think its coir. It's an all organic potting soil.
