Hi, This is my first attempt to grow using HPS. I have grown using a compact fluorescent, it produced poor quality light weight fluffy nugs. Iv done lots of research and i am ready to step my game up. I know a 600whps is ideal for this set up but due to budget and heat i decided on the 400hps. I am welcome to any for of criticism good or bad. If there is something i could have done better id love to hear! I am currently 13 days. After planting clones, 5 days later i noticed mold on my jiffy pots so i switched to 1 gallon plastic pots, fed 1/2 dose of nutrients the same day. 4 days later medium was starting to dry so i flushed with PH 6 water.

i am not sure why my pics wont show here, but you can look at my gallery.

I will take more pics on the 13th, thats tomorrow so i will be updating soon!

1) Space :3x3x7
2) Lights: Flowering 400w air cooled hps. Veg 2x 125w fluorescent hydrofarm grow lamps.
3) Strain 1: 1 skywalker og clone (Hybrid-Indica dominate) -Great roots high quality clone!
4) Strain 2: 3 OG 18 clones "private reserve" Cannabis cup winner '09 and '10. (Hybrid-Indica dominate) - Great roots! high quality clones! The blue dream was poorly rooted and did not make it, sorry.
5) Medium: VermiPro soilless organic grow medium. (Triple washed coco coir, the highest grade peat moss, aged softwood bark, perlite and mycorrhizal fungi.
6) Nutrients: Technaflora recipe for success.
7) Pot size: started in 4 inch deep jiffy cups, turns out that was a bad idea. 5 days later i noticed white fuzzy mold on the jiffy cup. They hold too much moisture and don't dry out. This had no negative effect on the plants. I transplanted into 1 gallon pots and will switch to 3 gallon the day before i flip the switch "12-12"
8) Current light cycle: 18-6

Hi double vision,

I've properly embedded your photos into your post. You were linking to ".html" links not the actual ".jpg" of the photos.

Thank you Colorado High for the help.
Update time! I forgot to mention i topped each plant around day 6-7. This is day 14 veg 18/6. Normally i would Feed flush flush, since i had only given the plants 1/2 dose of nutrients i decided the last flush was enough and gave them a whole dose of nutrients last night on day 13, 4 days after last watering. After taking the pics today i topped the 2 main stems again on 2 of the larger og 18 almost 10 inches already and i am hoping the others can catch up, each plant has at least 3 tops already, the skywalker og has 6 and i only topped her once.. very bushy. they seem to have taken the full dose of nutrients great, they grew about 1/2-1 inch every day for the past 5-6 days.
Sorry about the angles i will work on that with next update in a few days.

here are some pics

Thanks mtnman420, when are you planning on getting your lite, I would love to follow your grow when you do. I'll keep updates at least every 3-4 days. The last 2 days have been super hot 92f in my tent and 20% humidity. Even with the humidifier. I'll see tomorrow if it effected any growth, I can't really tell now because I had just topped all the og 18, but the skywalker does not seem to be slowing any. I heard skywalker og is very resistant to high temps. Maybe something to keep in mind for anyone with temp issue .

Anytime Man, and I'm probably going to pick it up in a month or two once I'm able to move them to a slightly bigger room and have the $$$. But for right now they are in my closet under a 125W CFL.

125w cfl im pretty sure that is close to what i am using for veg. here is a pic. i have actually flowered 1 plant before with 1 of these lights and got about 1/2 oz off it haha ;] smelled really good and was frosty but it was REALLY light weight. huge nugs the size of my hand only came out to like 2 grams lol.

Update time! So like i had mentioned in the last update it has been very hot here, 90-94f and low humidity. It looks like after the 3rd day of this horrible heat a few if the upper leafs started to suffer a little from heat and or humidity stress. they were starting to "taco" roll up. only the top sets tho. i waited till my lights went off and turned off my vent fans, pumped my humidifier on and let it fog up the tent for a few hours, when i turned the lights back on they looked like i just watered them, leaves were really heavy and full of moister and started to uncurl. Its going to be hot for 2 more days, so i changed my lite pattern. i turned it on 1 hour early last night, so 5 hours of dark. then in 14 hours i will turn them off and start its 18-6 cycle so that the lights are off during peak hours of heat. lucky for me it only was 90-94f for a little over 4 hours. ok picture time! also i flushed as soon as lights came on last night.

Looking good so far brotha! looking healthy, hopefully the heat starts to go down and cools off slightly. you could look into a small portable A/C unit to help keep the temp in the range you want. And those are the Exact same lights i have!!! My clones seem to be doing wonderful under them, but i'm Thinking about picking up a 200W bulb next week to help give them a little more lumens.

Thanks, let me know how that 200w works out in these lamps. i was thinking of doing the same thing but i was trying to keep cost of veg lower than cost of flowering, I was also looking into getting a small ac to throw in my window. I was hoping not to have to get it till next grow, seeing as it is only march it should not be this hot. Its said to cool down the next few weeks and that's all i need to finish veg. this grow should be done by the end of may, They are both 9 weekers. hopefully it will not get too hot or i will have to take your advice on that ac.
Update: I was not planning on updating today, but my big girl in the back is already 12" and here sisters are only 10", The only thing i could think to do was super crop! This was my first attempt on this and i hope i did it right! i am trying to get a nice even canopy :]

Tonight I will be doing a 2nd flush, I will also use that flush to moisten my medium so I can transplant into their final 3 gallon homes. I'm going by the good old 1 gallon, 1 foot per month rule and if all goes well I'd like to flip the switch on Friday day 21. The super cropping was a success and I'll put some pics up when I get off work tonight. Happy growing and happy "green" day to everyone smoke bowls don't drink !

Update time:I was a little hard on one of the arms i cropped down and i had to make a support for it, first try was with tape, it got stuck to one of the leaves and tore a hole "oops". i said screw the tape and used some string to hold it up for a while, when i got home today it was able to hold itself up and also had new growth and started to stretch back to the lite. I took the string down before i took pics sorry was not thinking. Other than that the super cropping went very well, everything evened out great. I did the 2nd flush tonight with ph 6.5 water, run off 6.5. I like to Feed flush flush like mentioned before. so now i can start flowering nutrients next time i water, that will be like day 2-3 after i flip the switch to 12/12 and switch to the hps. I am hoping it will help i don't know for sure. Tomorrow if the medium is ready to transplant i will do that and thats pretty much it for tonight. Temps came back down to normal outside, 75-80. i can keep my tent the same temp as it is outside or warm it up if needed but no ac yet so that 3-4 day heat spree was killer. it seemed to have no harm, maybe a little growth stunt? Everything is on schedule still, Friday is week 3 veg and everything is hitting its 12'' target.

Todays temps !

Ok so I am super exited and could not wait, while at work today I decided to buy a cloner. I got the sunblaster nanodome came with a 17 watt 18" T5 6400k. Is this light good enough to start clones?

you can make a cheap bubble cloner that works great and don't have to spend a ton of money
the light should be fine

Update: Yesterday everything went according to plan, the soil was moist, yet dry enough to transplant into their 3 gallon final pots. It seems to have went very smooth, no signs of any stress on the girls. They are all over 12 inches now and today i took out my cfl's and turned my hps on at 250watts for the last 2 hours of their light today. Its about 2 feet away maybe more i did not check, ill slowly go closer every day. I am hoping by doing this everything will go smoother when the hps turns on at full strength 400watts tomorrow. Also the 12/12 cycle will start as soon as the lights come back on. I also finished my net. That's all to report for today. here are the pics! because everyone loves pictures :]

Todays temps with hps on for 2 hours

Ready to flip the switch tomorrow on day 21 right as planed!
20150319_112125.jpg

I like to plan ahead and do things on a schedule, try to knock out multiple stress actions at a time if possible. I heard this is better causing less stressful days a posed to doing stressful stuff every other day or so.. anyways my point is. I was planning on lolipoping on week 2 of flowering, now I don't want those lower branches to go to waste so after I cut them off I will be attempting to clone them. I want to cause as less stress as possible during flowering, is this too late to lolipop without stressing the flowering process ?
