This is my fist time growing medical marijuana and writing on a forum. All my knowledge of growing medical marijuana came from reading on the internet, so I expect to learn by trial and error. The reason I decided to write a journal was so people can learn from my errors and to get advice from pros.

This is what i'm going to be growing:
Afghan 100% Indica
Blackberry Hybride

Indoor or outdoor? Indoors
Soil or Hydro? Soil but thinking about Hydro

Hi there! If I were you I'd continue thinking about hydro while I stick my seeds in some good, quality soil that will give my seedlings nutrients for 2-3 weeks, giving me time to watch, observe, learn and plan for future grows. Growing in soil is easy. Use it on you first run to get your feet wet.

I am waiting for my blackberry seeds to arrive. Meanwhile, I am going to be buying the rest of my gear. What I got so far is a 4x8 grow tent. This is what I got in mind, if you have a better way or have an advice please let me know.

-One 600 Watt HPS MH Hydroponic Grow Light.
-Ten 1 gallon 6" pots (If you think this is too much for a 4x8 tent or I can add more please let me know.)

This is my list so far. Air filters and fans will come later.

i have grown aurora indica, amoung others. it was very afphi. i now, have some white label "purple bud". which is apfhi x purple kush. its still in veg. i have several reg apghan seeds. not sure if ill ever get to em. i have some new god bud seeds, and some chemo. the current growers, are my old god. ice, two free seeds, critical sensi star, and super silver haze. but, afgan is a very hardy strein. best choise for first grow. i have found i like the easy ones. i had a jack herer, that was the most vibrant and vigorous i have ever had. aurora indica, was probably my most potent.

if you are a beginner. i would not do blackberry. the streain, i have heard more than ounce, is hermi prone, and a bit fussy. aurara indica, was easy, and heavy buzz. northern lights, was easy, and tasty. i have a critical sensi star, that is getting great reveiws. on easy of grouth, great taste, smell, buzz, and, very fast finisher. i just put the lil 12" fem, in a 20 gal pot, outside, today.

So I think I am ready to start. After my research about germinating seeds, I decided to place the seeds in a cup full of water for two days. Right now they are just floating, but they are suppose to be at the bottom by the end of the second day. Thanks to cannilingus's advice, I won't be growing the Blackberry. Since this is my first grow I decided to grow something easy. I just going to be growing the Afghan.

This is what I'm thinking next: (Please let me know if you have any advice)
After the 2 days, I am going to take them out and place them in a small plastic cup. Not sure about what type of soil yet, any advice?
At this time I was going to put them 12" under my 1000 w HPS light for 18/6

Good plan. Use a type of soil that is customized for seedlings or just something that does not have a lot of nutrients in it.

After 2-3 weeks you can re-pot them and use a soil with more nutrients, or use the same soil and start feeding with nutrients. If you're a cheepo like me, you can use regular organic tomato fertiliser together with something for the microbial activity that you want brewing in your soil. That keeps them going throughout flowering. You can also buy specialised fertilisers.

Today I put my first grow tent together, is a 4x8. My plan is to get one more. I'm still waiting for my lights and fan. I was thinking on putting two 1000w lights in each tent. I also checked on my seeds and they are still floating.
Question:
-How big of a pot should I used? (I will like to start with the biggest one I can)
-How many plants can I grow in this 4x8?

Today, I moved 9 seeds to their first bed. One of the seeds was still floating so I am going to leave it there for another 12 hrs. So far I got 6 afghan seeds and 4 of unknown seeds that I got for free. Right now I can see the first root coming out of 4 of them. I'm still not sure how often I need to water them.

Keep those moist at all times. You can have as many plants in your tent as you can fit pots in there. That's a huge tent. Use some large pots.

Off the subject. Medical Marijuana is being legal in my state for a while now. I had my license to grow and consume for a while now but last night was a good night. Even do marijuana is legal, I have been smoking in my usual spot (hiding in the garage), but last night I decided to take my bong and smoke in front of my house. Smoking in front of my house was different for me, I live in front of a busy street that is always full of cops. I enjoyed smoking and watching people and cars go by. For the first time ever, I felted that smoking weed was normal.

Im trying to set up my fans and I have seen two different ways.

Only 5 seeds survived. Here are the pictures from week one. I'm having problems keeping humidity high.

My leaves are yellow. Any ideas?

Week 3
The plant with the yellow leaves die. Down to four. Roots look good and they seem ok. One of the plants have leaves that are folding down. I have not been checking the water PH levels, but now I am starting to.

Since some of my plants die and I have enough space I decided to try for six more. Can anybody explain to me what is "nuke"? Is that fertilizer? If so, what is the beginner's recommendations? Also, where is my water PH supposed to be? How soon can I be able to tell there sex? Thank you!

Here is a picture of the seeds fermenting. Next time I see them will be in two days. They will be 3 weeks behind.
