Photo Gallery Guide - How to Resize, Upload & Post Photos

Welcome to the step by step guide to the 420 Magazine Photo Gallery.

Upload all 420, Cannabis, Marijuana, Hemp related images to our Photo Gallery.
Including photos of you smoking, your smoking/vaping devices, plants, buds, etc.
Photos of anyone looking even remotely like a minor, will be deleted without warning.

DO NOT UPLOAD NON-420 PICTURES TO THIS WEBSITE, THEY WILL BE DELETED.

Resizing Photos

To start off, you need to make sure your pictures are the correct format.
Our gallery accepts jpg, jpeg, gif, png file formats.
Photo size must not exceed 1MB.

If your photos are larger than 1MB, Here are some links to free online photo resizing tools:

Photoshop for PC and/or Aperture for Mac to Resize photos in bulk.


Uploading Photos

Click on the Photo Gallery button that can be found at the top of any 420 Magazine page.

When the gallery main page opens you'll click on the 'Upload Photos' button.

When the 'Photo Upload' window opens you'll have three things to do.

First choose the category you want your picture in.



Second click on the 'Browse' tabs to gain access to your computers image gallery where you'll select your picture for uploading.



Third you'll need to click the 'Upload/Submit' button to begin upload process.

TIP: Insert your pics in the proper categories. Buds into 'Buds' category, Plants in 'Plants', etc. All of those images will then appear in your own 'Members Gallery' automatically as well as being available in their proper categories where most gallery gazers tend to look.


Inserting Photos In Threads

Go to the Photo Gallery, select the picture you'd like to insert in the post and click on it.

Once the new window with your picture opens, right mouse click on the photo and click on Properties.

The Properties box will appear, now highlight the photo's Location URL.



Then right mouse click on the URL and choose copy.



Now you are ready to post your photo.
Go to your post and click on Insert Image.



The Insert Image box will appear, make sure you delete the "http://" that is in the box.



now right mouse click in the box and choose Paste.



It should look like this, now click OK.



Now your photo is in your post.



Now you can finish your post and click on the Submit New Thread button.





Setting up a Photo Album in the Gallery

Click on the Gallery button at the top of any 420Magazine page.



Once the main gallery page opens click on the My Albums button.



On the next page click on the Create a New Album button.



Now enter the name & description for your album.



Then click the Create a New Album button.



Now you will see your album listed here.



Now you can start to upload photos to your new album
On the right hand side of the page click on the Upload Photos button.



When the upload page opens make sure to choose your album here.



Now click on the Browse button to gain access to your computers image gallery where you'll select your photo for uploading.



When you are done finding your photo click on the Upload/Submit button.



Now you can go to the main Gallery page and click on the My Albums button.



And view your album.

FOR MAC USERS
Right mouse click on your photo and choose "Copy Image".
If you are not using a two button mouse, you will need to hold down your CTRL key as you are clicking on the photo then choose "Copy Image".
Now follow the directions above in the "Inserting Photos In Threads" section of this guide.

Photoshop for PC and/or Aperture for Mac to Resize photos in bulk.

For PC, a free program called XnView is excellent for bulk resizing, converting and editing. It's 100% freeware, and is available from download.com. I use it and love it, especially the price.

Help! I can not get my photos to link to my posts. I have uploaded my photos as instructed and they are all there. I can post the link to a photo, but that is not the proper way. The insrtuctions tells me to bring up a photo i want to post and right click on the picture to get the properties to come up. When I do i get the properties only and no options just the photos basic stuff and not what it shows on the insrutions. I have tried this over and over and am getting frustrated. For heaven's sake I taught Computer Science at the university level for 17 years. This is getting to be crazy. One mouse click some where that I'm missing or what?

after you copy the photo's url and you are making a post, all you need to do is click on the little yellow square icon at the top of the post box that looks like a mountian and the sun, if you move your mouse over it it should say Insert Image. anyways you click on that and a little box pops up, paste the photo's url in the box and click ok.

I did one tonight and it worked, but not like you have explained. I will try your way. It bugs me to no end not doing it the right way. lol.

Hey (((((OMM))))) Don't know if this will help. If not, simply ignore it!

When I want to put new pics in my message, I first upload them all to my "My Photos" area. Evidently you are getting this just fine. Then I leave my "My Photos" area open in one of my browser tabs and right click and use a NEW TAB window to open up the journal I am writing a message in. So now I have two windows open in my browser. As I write my message, I can then go back and forth between the two windows by choosing the correct tab for them from the top of my browser window.

When I need to insert an image, I go back to the My Photos tab and click on the image I want to insert. It loads on the page and I scroll down to the lower portion of the page where the URL link is listed. I click inside it to highlight it and I use Ctrl+c to copy the URL (or you can copy anyway you are familiar). Then I go back to the message I am writing and click on the image icon (as shown below)


and I use Ctrl+v to paste the URL link into the box and click "OK"
Wahlah... the pic is there.
When I need a different pic, I go back to the My Photos tab and have my browser go back a page so I have all my photos loaded again, choose the correct pic to insert and do the above again. Hope this helps ((((OMM))))!!!

I'd just like to add that google Chrome has a nice "copy image url" right-click feature that makes this process even quicker!
(no properties box to deal with, etc)

Whats up medman, keep running into your posts, gonna follow you from now on cause are saving me from asking all the same questions, lol. Trying now to upload pics, but have to resize first. Did that, OK, now where are the damn resized pics???? This is my first computer in 11 yrs. and my first ever digital camera, but I'll get it!! I know you finally got it cause I been lookin at your pics

Hey Billy.
I actually do it like granny explained and it is not really by the book, but it works for me. 11 years without a computer didn't help you at all.
This sounds weird but things are much easier now, except you missed the getting easier part

You've got the first part down now. You've resized the pictures and have uploaded them.
So your pictures are there and ready. When I post my pictures as you do, when they are through processing and you can see all your pics. Stop right there and Log In again, yep just like you are not logged in. Now you have two windows. One with your pictures and the other login you made. In that window I open my grow journal. Then I post a message like "here is my updated pictures" and hit enter and stop right there. You are ready to insert the first picture,
Change to the window where your pictures are. Click on the first picture and it will enlarge. Right click on properties. Up comes very little info, but what you need is right there. Drag and copy the address to the picture.
Then go back to the other window where you are posing a message.
That's when you click on the little picture Icon. Up pops a little window and ask where the path is for the picture. You then paste the address in that you copied from the other window. Boom the text on where the address is pasted in. To see the picture you have to scroll down and hit preview post.
The preview will let you see your picture.

Now go back to the message you are posting and hit enter. that will move you to a new blank line. Now you are ready to insert the next picture. Go back to the the open window with your pictures and double click on the next one. then do it again and again and finally you will have all your pictures in your message.
you can then add comments or what ever. It sound really complicated, but after doing it a few times it will start to be second nature to you.
Don't worry you'll get the hang of it.
