I am a selfish man, and a Canon man.

Go Canon so I can somehow enjoy watching you grow more than I already do...if that's possible...

And always keep in mind, that more megapixels are important if you are going to blow up your prints into larger than life sized cardboard cut-outs. But if it's close-ups ye be searchin'...

You can easily use 10megapixels and invest in a great Macro lens.

Good advice - spend your money on the lens! You've got to get a macro lens for those trich shots... no amount of pixels will substitute.

I'm a Nikon man, but only because I'd already put $$ into the lenses when the DSLRs came out.

Agreed. I'm a photographer in real life. If you go the DSLR route, cut back on what you spend for the body and put it towards the best macro lens you can get.
An OK camera with a fantastic lens always beats a fantastic camera with a so-so lens. It's all about the glass

Re: The VipersNest Continuous

Pit,

Talk to me about the light movers. My dual 600's are stationary and it's hurting my yield. My flower room is 8 feet wide. My reflectors are the quad ray 2x2's. I'd need 2 sections of 8' rail but the mover(s) would really only have to move 5 or so feet in order to keep the reflector from hitting the wall, etc.

My questions are:

1. How do you dictate how far the unit moves back and forth? Is there a way to tell it to only go 5 feet or does it automatically go to the other end of the rail?

2. Can you speed it up/slow it down?

3. How much energy does it pull?

4. Where did you get yours/who is the best place to get this type of item from? What am I looking at dollar wise(ballpark) for (2) 8' rails with movers?

5. My room is actually 7ft 10 inches wide so is there a way to order a custom fit rail and if not can they be cut/modified?

Sorry for so many questions and Thanks in advance.

Pit, sweet smells are being carried over here with the tradewinds. Nice bats coming in there. Job well done!

I use a Cannon EOS 1 got it last December. I am still learning as I go along the mary go round.

Re: The VipersNest Continuous

i've a a actually been lookin toward nikon d40 to d90. Saw nice d40 package with tons of goodies including macro lens and crap for under 500. I',m no ansel adams but still dont like wasting my money on crap products. I'm sure d40 was top notch at one point.

Would like to see someone who knows their crap.. let us know which they think is better and why.. nikon vs canon?

Re: The VipersNest Continuous

I had a Nikon 5000 5.0 MP years ago...was like 1400 then . It was stolen from me and now I get by on a 100 dollar nikon point and shoot. but Im really dying to get a decent camera, I like the D60 and also the Canon Eos. 500.00 for the D60 and 800.00 for the Canon. I probably go with the D60 and buy a good macro lens as everyone seems to recomend. I figure after all the money I spent on the infrastructure I may as well get a good camera.
