Hello everyone! I'm back in action after a 3 month hiatus...
![]() Since I'm back to the daily grind once more, I figured why not grow? I setup my closet the day I moved into my new place. I live alone now so no more nosy roommates! Thank Jah for that! I will be growing two strains this time around. Both coming from bags of the dankest of herb. One was a Sativa/indica hybrid that smelled and tasted of citrus. The other was a pure Indica strain. Heavy Kush taste and couch lock high. During the vegetative period, I will be using a 150w High pressure sodium lamp, supplemented with four 42w compact fluorescent lamps. That puts me at around 25,000 total Lumen output. When flowering begins, I will purchase an air-cooled 400w hps system if I can manage the cost. I will be feeding with Botanicare Pure blend Pro-Grow and Liquid Karma during the veg period. Once flowering begins I will switch to FF Tiger Bloom and Liquid Karma. I use R/O distilled water, so I will also use Botanicare Cal/Mag Plus throughout to make up for mineral loss. They are in FFOF soil. I germinated 3 Citrus, and 2 Kush on the 14th. This is what they look like 8 days later... Thanks for looking!

Small update...
Transplanted last night. Temps are spiking during the day. Its 100 degrees outside so theres not much I can do. Reached 97 in the grow room when I was gone this morning. Now that the closet door is open its at 86 degrees. Day 10. I know I know, veg pics are boring! Have a good week everyone... I'll update this weekend.

The plants are doing well. Its not the weekend yet but I figure it can't hurt to update while I'm sitting here bored as all hell.
The heat has still been a problem, so I added another box fan to the room. That brings the box fan count to 3. Those things are a budget growers best friend. They really help keep all the lights cool. The intake fan pulls air into the closet from the left side. The air escapes through the fan exhausting air out the right crack. This is the same method that I used on the last closet grow similar to this one, except now I have one additional fan pointed directly at the plants/lights. The temp is at 88 right now. The night temps are around 80. RH is never over 40%. They seem to be showing signs of stress, such as curling leaves and canoeing. I think its due to the heat and maybe because the hps is still a little much for the seedlings. I'm now using water from my friend's new R/O machine. He's kind enough to let me take 4 gallons or so every couple days. This will be useful for my hydro grow. No more trips to wal-mart for shopping carts full of water! This friend is the same one who ordered me some legitimate feminized strains from overseas this May.(Don't know if anyone remembers) He is currently growing 5 Cali-Orange and 4 Hindu Kush that were originally mine. I wasn't planning on growing anytime soon, so in June I gave him the go ahead to grow my half of the seed order in addition to his half. They are about 3 weeks into flowering and look gorgeous. I will beg him to let me take a few pictures my next visit, after all they were my seeds! Watered yesterday the ones that needed it. Freshly acquired R/O water with 3ml/gal Pureblend Grow, 2ml/gal Liquid Karma, and 2ml/gal Cal/Mag+ and a little H2O2 for some extra oxygen and to keep the soil clean. Just a small dose to get them started, they don't really need anything but I couldn't resist... FFOF is pretty hot so I wont need to give them much until they really start to take off. They are surprisingly stacked. I believe I have a fairly efficient lighting setup for vegetative growth... at least while they can all fit right under the lights. Once they get some height and I spread them out, I'm gonna have to go for the 400. I use a 20/4 lighting schedule. I don't think I've mentioned that yet. Its a little hard to tell in the pictures, but Unknown Strain A has purple stems leading to all the leaves thus far. I thought it might just be the plant adjusting to its environment at first, but as each node forms, the mauve tint becomes ever more noticeable... I'm excited to see where this is going. This strain had a very musky/kush smell in the bag, so I hope I can get some of those same qualities out of these plants. The other strain had sort of a sweet smell, resembling a pineapple or some sort of citrus. Lemonene was probably one of the prevalent terpenes in this strain. These seedlings are already exhibiting a sweet aroma that is different from any other I've grown. I can only hope it will intensify as time goes on. Sorry for all the chatter everyone, in my opinion the more detailed the journal and the more background, the better. Plus I'm blasted... Photo time! Unknown Strain A.1 Unknown Strain A.2 Unknown Strain B.1 Unknown Strain B.2 Unknown Strain B.3 Thanks for looking everyone!

PitViper and Tunes420, glad to have you guys along for the ride.
Update time. hold up let me rip one real quick... ![]() , damn those hits of kief are harsh! Anyways I topped one of the plants last night, and began LST on the big one two days ago. Gave them full strength nutes last feeding and they are lovin it. I'm switching to flower next week. They are all at 5'' which isn't very big for some of you, but with my lack of wattage I'm gonna keep em a little on the small side. Last photo is of the recent topping. It was a little rough, but I think I will have good results... Thanks for stayin tuned...

Good work!
Plants look dense and healthy. You may have a heat issue when you put in that 400W in. I have a 250W In my closet that is vented and A/C ducted into it, and temps top out at 86. I think if you get the ventilation down, you can keep the temps down to a tolerable level. Good luck!

High Dread
Those babies are looking wicked awesome! Hey why don't you switch you lights on period from day to night to lower their daytime temps?? I'm not sure if that's what your doing already or not. None the less doesn't look like the heat is really affecting them, keep it up and I'll be watching.
