The Sterling Democratic Town Committee will host a debate on Ballot Question 2 on Thursday, October 9, at 7:00 p.m. at the historic 1835 Town Hall, 31 Main Street, Sterling.
Whitney A. Taylor, chairwoman of the Committee for Sensible Marijuana Policy, will speak in favor of the proposal, which would replace the criminal penalties for possession of one ounce or less of marijuana with a new system of civil penalties. Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr. will argue against the measure. The debate is open to the public. Citizens are invited to attend and ask questions of the presenters. The Sterling Democratic Town Committee will also be hosting forums on Questions 1 and 3. The forum on Question 1 is scheduled for Tuesday, October 21; the forum on Question 3 will be held on Tuesday, October 28.
