When you take into consideration, the amount of time and money for court, or paying a ticket for possession (and having it on your record), $175/150 is very inexpensive for some piece of mind. I'm sure there are always ways to get a doctor's referral cheaper, however, most physicians that are writing these referrals, are charging upwards of $250 for a six-month rec, and another $250 to renew.
It seems to me that any doctor that is openly writing these referrals for legitimate patients should be praised, and not scolded for charging more than some might be able to afford on a personal level. Due to the credibility of this physician, I would happily pay her $175 and more if she were to charge more. Yes, she is that awesome! Peace! |

I have never meet a doctor who charges 250 for 6 months. My doctor is willing to show up in court for me has gone down to co-ops to protect my rights and still doesnt charge that much. Im sure your doctor is great but what does that extra money get you? Just courious

You should consider yourself very lucky if your doctor is willing to go that far out on a limb on your behalf and not charge you? I doubt that many physicians would go to court only because it doesn't really serve a purpose. Why would you need a physician expert witness in court with you if you have a legitimate recommendation? You should have no problem getting any cannabis charge dismissed by using any public defender that's worth a damn. If a public defender can't get medical marijuana charges dismissed with a legit recommendation (and get you your cannabis back) they aren't very good at their job. Also, why bother having a ligit rec to start with? Sorry, but I have to reiderate that I am happy to pay $175 to this awesome doctor, and have never heard a patient complain about her prices! Peace! |

Re: Mobile Clinic for Medical Marijuana Recommendations!
No i know many that charge the 250 but not for 6 months. My doctor would come to court for me because i didnt have my medical card when i got arrested and was willing to speak to the judge as to the reason why he should allow me to smoke marijuana while on formal probation for marijuana charges. In the end the letter he wrote was enough but it was the thought that counted.

Re: Mobile Clinic for Medical Marijuana Recommendations!
I feel fortunate. I went to Santa Cruz to get mine. The first year it was $100, and was good for 12 months. This year it was $125 for 12 months. I hope it doesn't get that expensive, I will not be able to afford it.
I believe Miss Indica said that her doctor gave her a recommendation for life. Peace and happiness |

You're absolutely right, It's the thought. Now I see why you felt it was so important. I know this doctor would also be happy to do the same under extenuating circumstances. Hope all has worked out great for you! Peace! |

Re: Mobile Clinic for Medical Marijuana Recommendations!
My doctor was doing recommendations out of a competing clinic. They would not call. He came down in person to talk to them and they treated us like kings after. You get that same protection with any doctor. I could be wrong about this but I though any MD on the state of California could give a recommendation.

![]() P.S.: A rec up here is normally good for 12 months and runs $125. But hey.. Socal.. I understand.. used to live there. What I don't understand is "credibility".. what has that got to do with a recommendation? If your Dr. is licensed to practice in California I believe that constitutes "credibility".. wouldn't you agree? .

Re: Mobile Clinic for Medical Marijuana Recommendations!
Pinch, you are correct....i cost me 150 to get my first medical marijuana note, and it's been 100 every year after. My doctor always writes me notes and offers to go to court if the situatuin ever arises, as that's part of his job; defending his own recomednation if the court ever made it an issue. I have never had a problem accessing clubs. I make it a point to never visit a club that does not call and veify your legal status, that's bad business right there and I want nothing to do with shady business practices like that. I dont see why a compassionate doctor would charge you anything over 150 for writing a note. Should he also charge you 150 for writing a note for Vicodine or seizure medicine? Any medical doctor in California has the authority to write a medical marijauna recomendation. My grandfathers general practitionaer wrote him a note for FREE, becasue my grandfather was dying of cancer and no one with a heart would charge a dying individual hundreds of dollars for a note that cost the doctor nothing to write, that would alleviate a mans suffering. I often wonder what the rationale behind doctors charging severly ill Californians hundreds of dollars is, when legaly any doctor can write this note, not a special "pot doctor" or anything like that. As for the 1 year/never expires note, I have an incurable disease, so I have also wondered why the standard is ONE YEAR...if most of the people recieving these notes are chronicaly (IE: never ending) ill Californians, why wouldn't their notes be good for 5-10 years at a time?

Re: Mobile Clinic for Medical Marijuana Recommendations!
Once I re-read my post, I agree, I should have phrased that differently. Sorry about that!
Yes, any licensed physician can write a rec. Of course as you know, this does not mean they're a great doctor. I check the background of the physicians I make appointments to see. I will not get into names, but have been to see one in particular that still charges 250 for a 6 month rec. They make it blatantly obvious that they're in this for the money only. Remember that some physicians are physicians with a "barely passing" grade, whereas other physicians graduate with honors. That's what I was referring to as far as their credibility. My condition (Viral Encephalitiis), which brought on seizures and EP, was very difficult to diagnose. I appreciate on a very high level the importance of a first rate physician that knows on a medical level, what they're talking about.<br> Also, one that can explain to you the if's, and's, how's, and why's, of the benefits. Hopefully with an explanation of how the CB1 and CB2 receptors in you brain interact with the active elements in cannabis. Again, Sorry for coming off all defensive earlier! I just love this doctor and am probably a little bias, she is a graduate w/top honors from Stanford. Peace! |
