Before I discovered the medical benefits of Marijuana, I had been an occasional smoker for a dozen or so years, but never an everyday smoker. I have over my life so far had many many injuries. I'm 6'7" now, so was growing very fast when I was younger, this made for a dangerous combination of brittle bones and lack of coordination. This, along with having a very adventurous father, lead to me breaking around 40 bones and numerous ligament and tendon tears.
I'd have to say my worst three injuries are: My left ankle from a rock avalanche that shattered the bones in my ankle and foot and did massive nerve damage. The nerve damage caused my to constantly have a pulsing electrical pain shooting from my ankle through my whole foot. Leaving me many nights without sleep. I've had 7 surgeries on it so far. My right ankle from a beach accident that broke off the inside part of my ankle bone and completely screwed the cartilage. 4 surgeries so far. Left knee from having spent 6 months in Shriners Children's Hospital paralyzed from the waist down from a fish toxin and then returning to school and having someone jump on my back. My legs were atrophied from my time in a wheelchair and I was standing on a grassy slope. I went over forward and my knee buckled and bent the wrong way to the point of my toes touching my hip, ripping apart my ACL and PCL. 4 surgeries so far. There are a bunch more but I figured I'd stop with the top three. Due to all of these injuries I walked with a cane or crutches all the time, since I was 22, and if I went with my family to the zoo or an amusement park I had to use a wheelchair, which I really hated because of my time in a wheelchair from the fish toxin. Because of my inactivity I gained weight and over a 7 year period went from a very fit 225 to a massive 330. About 3 years ago, I went on vacation from San Diego up to visit my cousin in Mendocino. Coincidentally this was in November right after everyone has harvested and cured their bud from their outdoor harvest. My cousin was being given ounce after ounce of free bud from grower friends, so the whole time I was there I was completely toasted. After a week of this I started realizing how diminished my pain was. I was spending more time on my feet and felt how much happier I was in general, not to mention I was sleeping like I was in a coma. From then on I was smoking at least a little bud everyday, even moved to NorCal to have room to grow outdoors, among other reasons. Because of the reduced pain, I have stopped using the cane, go on regular walks with my family and dog and have lost over 60 pounds. As long as I keep some in my stem the nerve pain is smothered and my joint pain is less. I still have some pain all the time, with the exception of when I am completely baked. About a year and a half ago I finally got a doctors recommendation and started visiting the co-ops. I haven't looked back since. I discovered this site through searching for grow tips and have since become an at least competent grower. This site has also taught me about the many other benefits of MJ and hemp and has definitely created an activist out of me. I tell everyone I meet, except at work, about how much it has changed my life and what legalization could do to heal both our environment and the shithole our country has become. I know this was a little on the long side but to explain how it has changed my life I had to give a little background info.

Holy shit, have you been through a lot...!! I smoke purely for enjoyment (although I haven't had a single migraine since I began smoking, hmm...). Judging from your attitude when you post or how you look in your videos, I would never have guessed that you went/go through so much. It just goes to show how much marijuana can improve the quality of life for medicinal users.

some say pot does not work. I think they are smoking crack. I would be in bed 24/7 if it was not for my meds. I hurt my back. I suffer from carpal tunnle, schewmans, post tramatic stress dissorder, ect ect. life is good with meds.

Damn..you dudes and dudettes make me feel like I'm 20 again after reading about all your injuries and ailments..lol. All I suffer from is insomnia and arthritis which is coming on with the years. When I toke a few puffs I can sleep and my joints (no pun intended) are in much less pain. It does work and I'm hopeful that more and more doctors are recognizing this fact. The only bad part is that it makes this nymphomaniac even worse!

Hi from SoCal mtns. Have had card for several years and use medmj for HepC problems such as joint/muscle pain and spasms, depression, anxiety, nausea, insomnia, on and on. Well, why am I telling you guys this--I'm sure if you're a toker you already know. The depression can be real life threatening and the "legal" anti-depressants don't work for shit for me or anyone I know. While I'm thankful to at least have a card, the feds keep busting the dispensaries. One of them was great but too expensive for me. Would love to be able to grow a few plants of my own without fear of the feds. Would love to have enough to cook with instead of inhaling. I don't use any other medication, not even aspirin. I now have to go to a great deal of trouble to obtain medicine many miles from here. Viva la Mendocino county. __________________ |

I forgot to say medmj has improved life 1000%. Not much pain, can exercise more, eat more, stay calm and happy. All without "legal" medicines and their dread side effects.
