Any Other Wheelchair Users?

I got a power chair last spring. I can still get around a bit without it, but it gives me pain to walk any distance or stand for even a short time. I'd sure like to swap experiences and get to know any other rollers.

I have a mobility scooter for long distances but don't use it for every day activities. I've had 4 artery transplants in my right leg and all 4 failed (long story on why my artery collapsed) I got lucky and had two small collateral blood vessels grow together and that is what is allowing my leg to survive at this point. Due to the extremely reduced blood flow my calf and lower leg cramps up with any activity extremely fast and is extremely painful so when it comes to trying to get anywhere that is going to require any distance to walk I use the chair. But at home or around town I just limp my around or use the chairs most stores/malls supply.

In the house I shuffle around without the chair, usually. My chairs pretty nice. I've gone camping a few times and its amazing where it can actually go. Sometimes it gets stuck in loose gravel or dirt, but I found by scooting forward in my seat and throwing all my weight to the front there is almost nothing I can't get out of. When I ordered it I was told my copay would be 1200 bucks on this model. They had a great off road ready chair but it was way outa my price range, so I went with this one. Then when the bill actually arrived my co-pay was only 200. Shit! I coulda got the off road beast but I still love the one I have. I wanna find someone to joust with. We could use a couple of those foam pipe insulation tubes. It would be fun

holy hell! If I ever saw someone wheelin around in that thing I don't think I'd ever forget it. Wonder what the price tag on that thing is.

I have cerebral palsy. I don't use a chair. Throughout my life, whenever I've gotten in one of the damn things I've gotten in trouble. I do use a cane, though; so my mobility is somewhat restricted. I know some of you chair guys use weed for pain management. I'm really lucky that I don't have pain to speak of. Sometimes pot relaxes me so that I can move around more freely. At other times, if I smoke too much, I just get really fucked up and wind up sitting in my recliner enjoying the high.
