Woohoo! I'm legal!

:woohoo:

Just got my MMJ licence in Ontario, Canada and I'm very happy. My prescription is quite generous and I didn't have to pay any fees to get it. I'll be trying strains for insomnia/sleeplessness, anxiety and pain relief for the most part. Super psyched. :yahoo:

I was wishing 420 had a place where you could put your status update like Facebook does but I can't announce this on Facebook because my family wouldn't understand why I'm so happy about this especially since most of them don't know I've been vaping and eating it for a couple of years now illegally. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Just wanted to share the good news with people who understand.

Thanks for the Congrats, Richard.

Today, I'm making my very first batch of cannabutter in the slow cooker. Keep your fingers crossed that it works. I need to Google one serving cannabutter recipes. I don't want to make brownies because I'll be tempted to eat more than one and eating more than one cannabis-infused brownie could be dangerous. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Just placed my first MMJ order. I ordered 1/2 gram of each of the following:

  • Boaty McBoatface - Daytime Sativa - high in CBDs
  • Tweed Lot #3 - Daytime Hybrid - less than 1% THC
  • Birds Eye - Daytime Sativa - high in CBDs
  • Tweed Lot #4 - Nighttime Indica - high in THC

Hope they're good. Tweed says I should get my order in 2 to 3 business days.

:yummy:

It really is. I honestly never expected to be able to consume marijuana legally in my lifetime. Maybe world peace is achievable, too. We can only hope. Thanks for the Congrats!

Congratulations! Getting your license for the first time is really exciting! :)

Oops! This should say that I just ordered 5 grams of each of the following. 5 grams is the minimum to order through Tweed.

Awesome news. It's crazy exciting isn't it :)
I get it completely as I got mine back in April. A life changing thing that was. It's opened up a whole new world of access to strains that I didn't have before. Love that Boatey McBoatface too.
Welcome to the club! :thumb:

Awesome isn't it. Congrats:green_heart::party:

Being kind of new at this, too, I'm not really sure of all the answers.

Is CanniMed a licensed producer? If yes, my licensed producer is Tweed on Main. I used a doctor at Medical Marijuana Services (MMS) that Tweed organized for me. It was a Skype interview as they're in Thunder Bay and I'm in Hamilton, ON.

I'm currently not thrilled with MMS as I requested a note from the prescribing doctor over two months ago for my employer so that I can medicate at work and still have received nothing although they made sure to charge my credit card for the document. Definitely not happy about that.

I do like Tweed though and our contact there, Katie Meagher. She's very nice and has helped me a lot.

They appear to be in between stock right now as orders I've received and enjoyed are no longer stocked so that's kind of annoying. The smallest order I can receive from them per strain is 5g so I have lots still.

A lot of people think that growing your own is the answer to getting exactly what you want but I have no desire to do that yet (maybe after I retire but that's aways off).

I've heard that if you have a medical marijuana licence, you can take it to any dispensary and get what you want there but I've never done that so I can't confirm.

I hope some of this helps. If not, you might want to post something about this topic in one of the Medical Marijuana forums.

Good luck.

Congrats.

I got my prescription last week.

My Doc sent the paperwork to CanniMed but I am not liking what they seem to have for meds.

I am curious if you know what my options are and where you got your meds from.

Thanks!

It would seem you and I are at about the same point in this journey.

I work from home so growing would be very optimal for myself.

I also grow a huge garden in the summer and have an outdoor greenhouse so I am hoping I am as good at this as I am other plants.

Good luck on your journey.

I have had my medical license in ontario since july 2016 and have ensured that i educated myself to ensure i was protected. Here are some things you need to know.
1) you are not allowed to buy from dispensaries. They are illegal. There is currently bo legislation allowing these people to sell cannabis. Where they get their cannabis from is not a licensed producer as LP(licensed producers) are only allowed to sell directly to the client.
2)if you google licensed producers in canada there is a list of a few dozen licensed producers currently available to be used.
3) If you have already registered with a licensed producer and you are not satisfied you need to cancel with them get a new medical document in order to register with a different LP.
4) Be aware of constant changes in regulation. ACMPR is the one we are governed by in canada. Many of the facts are found there. Everything you need to know. I have researched and read all of it. If you have questions feel free to ask.

That's awesome HashGirl! I know this was back a while, but I am sharing your excitement because I just got mine too.. and for some of the same reasons, anxiety and insomnia being the biggest part. I love hearing people getting the help they need and deserve so thumbs up to you!

You may want to try MedReleaf. They can be a bit pricey on some strains, but they also sometimes offer the same strain in "crumble" form for a decent discount. The "crumble" seems to be mostly small broken nugs, but smokes, medicates and tastes the same. Also they offer a very generous compaasionate discount if you qualify. And if you are a little short on funds, they offer shake, or trimmings for $2.50 a gram before any discounts.
Yes, they are a Canadian LP. Customer service has been superb. I will never go back to Tweed, and also never go back to Organigram after their major recall for pesticide tainted Medical MJ.
And yup, it sure feels good to be legal :thumb:

:welcome: to 420, Snarly and SHS and Congrats on your new licences. I'm still looking for a doctor in the GTA to prescribe MMJ for me. The doctor I got through Tweed is located in Thunder Bay and since I've had to contact her a couple of times with info needed for work, it's been a pain in the ass. Snarly, do you know if MedReleaf has doctors on site?

Thanks kindly for the welcome, HashGirl. This place has answers to questions I didn't even know I had :hmmmm:
I don't believe that MedReleaf has onsite doctors. The problem with using Tweed's Skype doctor, is that you are locked in to Tweed. If you want to go to another provider, you will have to look for a referral from your family doctor or specialist, or look for the clinics that accept patients without referrals. These clinics usually have a long waiting list though.
Believe it or not, Tweed rep at Main St storefront gave me some leads to these clinics, but fortunately my family doc referred me.
I've been licensed for about a year and a half now, and am licensed to grow since last October.
Oooops, better get out of ramble mode :cheesygrinsmiley:
