Re: Chronic Pain

I've been in numerous motorcycle accidents, which have left me with a permanently disfigured left ring finger, permanent traumatic arthritis in my right foot/ankle and, currently, chronic pain/arthritis in my left knee and hip joints due to a badly broken femur. At this moment I'm walking with a cane, I can't ascend or descend stairs or ladders without it (and even then it hurts like hell). I can't stand very long because I favor the left leg, putting all of my weight on the right, which was smashed between the side of my bike and the front of a pickup truck a few years ago. My left ring finger, in addition to looking all kinds of f'd up, constantly hurts, more so in cold weather (like now), and hurts a lot more if/when I stub it on things (last joint curves off toward my pinky, about 45* from where it should be).

When I don't have any cannabis, I'm in pain, I can't really do much of anything, I don't feel like getting up to do anything because I'm so damned sore all over. When I have my bud, I get things done because I'm not just sitting here wondering if it's worth it to get up and walk to the kitchen for something to eat, or to take out the garbage etc...

I have my Dr. appt tomorrow

Re: Chronic Pain

I have fibromyalgia and chronic migraines as well as IBS and insomnia. Cannabis is the only medicine that treats everything, doesnt have any negative side effects like big pharma meds, and its all natural! the only way for me to function as a human being is for me to have a puff here and there through out the day.

Re: Chronic Pain

I sympathize with all of you in pain, it's a hard pill to swallow my friend's.
I myself am a survivor of 4 major car & motorcycle accidents and 2 bad back surgeries that has damaged my nervous system. All of my joints hurt, it hurts to walk, sit or stand, it even hurts to lay down for too long.

I have a list as long as my arm so I won't bore you with all the details. I suffer from major pain 24/7, insomnia and much more. Through the past 10 years of suffering I had to stop taking prescription pain meds 5 years ago due to severe allergic reactions, the meds have also calcified my teeth resulting with loss of permanent teeth and other side affects.

I've been biting the bullet all this time but my condition is rapidly worsening and I can't take it anymore so now I've decided to try nature's medicinal herb. All I can say is it definately does help me (it has helped the few times I had some), it's not a cure but it has increased the quality of my life.

The big drawback is the lack of dispensaries in my area, there aren't any, so here I am in the same situation... doing without. I have to travel 300 miles round trip to get anything and thats not very often.

Re: Chronic Pain

I have some sort of undiagnosed neurologic disorder that causes dizziness on a daily basis, along with the migraines, not sure if related or not but MD's are not able to tell me much except that I have "spots" on my MRI but they are not in a place that typically indicate MS, has been 1.5 years, still struggling.

Re: Chronic Pain

Hi all ,heres my Pain

I use MM for a condition called RSD.

Reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD), also called complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), is a chronic, painful, and progressive neurological condition that affects the skin, muscles, joints, and bones. The syndrome usually develops in an injured limb, such as a broken leg, or following surgery. However, many cases of RSD involve only a minor injury, such as a sprain. And in some cases, no precipitating event can be identified.

RSD/CRPS is characterized by various degrees of burning pain, excessive sweating, swelling, and sensitivity to touch.

Well thats whats up with why i need MM and use MM .

I crushed my foot at work ,and fractured 2 toes the 4 and the 5 ( pinkyand the one next to it). The forth toe broke again this time all the way .

I had sergery, they removed some of the bone, now i have two pinky toes and all the symptoms, and pain above. Pain F'ing Sucks!

Needless to say medical marajuana helps me with lot's of things like-
Pain
Nausea
Mood
ect .

Iv been this way for 3 years ,and my doc has no clue how much longer , or if it will go away.

Any way thats it, there's lots of great info here thank you.

Re: Chronic Pain

well i think as far as which type of bud is better goes along with what kind of pain you have, like for me i like sativa, it relaxes my muscles and makes me actauly want to relax after a few hits, but then again either one is great for anything if you use a volcano i found out recently, so i stick with a little bit of both.

Re: Chronic Pain

Hello all,

May 10, 07 I hurt my back at work! L4-L5 has an annular tear that leaks fluid. This fluid irritates muscles and nerves. Also have problems in the neck, feels like the neck locks up at times - like stuck - with a little force I can get it un-stuck, but can feel a pop. So now they call this DDD ( degenerative disk disease ). Right shoulder has problem too! They had me all jacked up on pain meds - o*ys, n*rco, val*ums, anti-inflamitories, and tried a dozen kinds of depression meds. Nothing worked, I wanted stronger meds all the time! They say surgery wont help my pain and sent me to pain management (rehab)! Oct. of 07 I got my approval for MMJ! Since April of 08 I have been completely off ALL pills! MMJ helps my depression, chronic pain, mood swings, sleeplessness, stress level, and anxiety! Not to mention helps my appetite!

Re: Chronic Pain

I have had chronic pain for the past 20 years, diagnosed with degenerative LS disc disease with spinal stenosis, and cervical degenerative disc disease with right radiculopathy. I am taking anti-inflammatories and strong opi*ids.

Since 2006, I decided to give MMJ a try to see if it would help the pain, reduce my tolerance for opi*ids, and reduce my need for prescription anti-inflammatories. Some strains work well, but there are some the seem to amplify some types of pain (sharp, burning). My doctor has asked me to keep a pain diary and I've noticed that my need for heavier and heavier doses has leveled off.

Re: Chronic Pain

Hello!

I have degenerate joint pain in knee's and ankles. Doctors won't consider medical MJ even here in British Columbia. I have found many strains that help me sleep, relax, calm me, ect, but so far nothing that I can say for sure has helped with my knee and ankle pain because I'm always taking a pill (or pills!). I would like to try some strains for pain so I can again go back to the doc and provide yet more evidence of why he should consider his patient rather than reputation. Could someone recommend a specific strain, that would be worth me trying?

Re: Chronic Pain

I'm grateful enough to not have to endure some of the things you guys deal with, but I smoke to relieve pain. It could be a migraine or back pain, smoking fixes it every time. I had back pain pretty bad recently after moving into my house and was unable to do much except slowly and carefully walk around. After a bowl, i was up on the ladder fixing a sagging plaster ceiling.

Its a wonder herb for sure

Post Re: Chronic Pain

I was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) and I have had somewhere near 250 broken bones ranging from a simple finger fracture to a compression fracture of my T8 vertebrae and even a few compound fractures breaking the skin. At any moment I could trip and fall and likely spend the next three months getting better. For the first years of my life all they did was prescribe me Ibuprofen for my pain and were reluctant to prescribe n*rcotic pain relievers because of the addiction issues. I now have two erosions in my intestines and suffer from severe indigestion and Gastro Paresis. These are so bad that I have to take the dangerous drug Regl*n for my symptoms. I have smoked marijuana since I was younger and find that I get more symptom relief than I do from any n*rcotic. When I finally found a doctor to help me with my pain, the opi*ids he prescribed just caused me severe constipation that only made my stomach and digestive problems worse. Not to mention the chemically addictive properties of the n*rcotics. I now have my Michigan MMJ id card and I am growing my own to save money. It is ridiculous how much an ounce of quality MMJ costs these days. I can’t wait until I can reap the rewards.

Bad knee's and Ibuprofen for me too. Same general results, can't eat anything that doesn't give me pain, cramps and.. well I won't mention how it comes out. I did find MJ the best and really only thing to help with those symptoms. I am still looking for ways to treat the actual pain. I found smoking no help, sure I could smoke enough that I could no longer stand, but my knee's would still throb. Now I've yet to try cooking, and from what I've read now a good Indica, cooked into butter and turned into a edible might be the ticket for my knee's too!

I can't wait to try!

Indicana
