Santa Rosa, Ca - The County of Sonoma will continue to hold a series of town hall meetings this week and continue to conduct an online survey to receive input on marijuana regulation in unincorporated Sonoma County.

The Medical Marijuana Ad Hoc Committee, including supervisors Efren Carrillo and Susan Gorin, is leading the effort to develop ordinances and policies that will create a "comprehensive regulatory scheme for the marijuana industry."

"Defining the structure and regulatory aspect of the commercial marijuana industry in Sonoma County comes with complex issues along with many opportunities and challenges," said Supervisor Carrillo. "We know this growing industry will have a big impact on our County and encourage all stakeholders to participate in shaping the County's approach."

The online survey asks residents such questions as

-What is your interest in the medical cannabis industry?
-Which issues are most important to you with regards to the cannabis industry?
-What distance should be used to separate cultivation from sensitive uses such as schools, parks or other establishments that provide services primarily to children?
-Do you support the cultivation of cannabis for personal use in residential areas?
According to Sonoma County officials, the town hall meetings will consist of a brief presentation on the current status of the regulatory process.

Officials say the majority of the town hall meeting time will provide an opportunity for attendees to provide feedback and ask questions on key issue areas.

Representatives from several County departments will be available to discuss the marijuana industry as it relates to agriculture and the environment, health and human services, taxation and revenue, economic development, and enforcement, according to the County.

The town hall meetings that still remain on the agenda will be held in each supervisor's district as follows:
