Hot, Fast Glycerol Extraction

Hi!
Tried this the other day, good result.
3.2 grams Sour Diesel, dried, powdered.
Heat 1/2 fl. oz. vegetable glycerin to 375 F, stir in herb in small (1/8 tsp.) increments. Will foam up a bit.
Stir for another 5 minutes after last herb added.
Herb should be getting dark.
Strain WHILE STILL HOT through 70 micron stainless steel mesh.
Take solids from strainer, mix into another 1/2 fl. oz. glycerin at 375 F.
Cook, repeat straining.
Combine liquids, allow to cool; dark brown-orange milky looking product.
MUCH thicker that pure glycerin.
1 eyedropper is usually enough for relaxing, two is fun. Three? Don't go to work.
Theory sez THC 'vapes at 370 F, catch vapors in a liquid. Seems to work!
Liquid 'vape!

Very nice Greg Gallacci.

Thanks for sharing this and welcome to 420 Magazine! :welcome:

Can you get the vegetable glycerin in the grocery store?

Howdy!
There are lots of places that carry Glycerin.
What you are looking for is USP, anhydrous Glycerol, commonly known as Glycerin.

There is a debate over Organic, Vegetable or Petroleum Glycerol.
You want to know a secret?
They are all the same.
Some folks confuse Propylene Glycol (PG) for Petroleum Glycerol, or claim that Vegetable Glycerin (VG) is somehow different.

Glycerin is 1,2,3-trihydroxypropane, no matter the source.
Questions of purity can be asked, but in general USP grades are pharmacy/cosmetic/food grade materials, and can be traced back to know process and sources.

Greg I infuse food grade glycine for drop under the tongue. I take equal amounts of herb to glycerin and cook it at no more than 220. You go above that and you will be vaporizing the thc out. It can go higher but you will lose something. Here's a chart that shows the boiling point of the different compounds. It's better to do it at a lower heat and take a little longer. If you use a whole eye dropper full you will be Just fine. The rest is the same as you do.

CANNABINOID, TURPENOID, AND FLAVOID PROPERTIES

?-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)
Boiling point: 157*C / 314.6 degree Fahrenheit
Properties: Euphoriant, Analgesic, Antiinflammatory, Antioxidant, Antiemetic

cannabidiol (CBD)
Boiling point: 160-180*C / 320-356 degree Fahrenheit
Properties: Anxiolytic, Analgesic, Antipsychotic, Antiinflammatory, Antioxidant, Antispasmodic

Cannabinol (CBN)
Boiling point: 185*C / 365 degree Fahrenheit
Properties: Oxidation, breakdown, product, Sedative, Antibiotic

cannabichromene (CBC)
Boiling point: 220*C / 428 degree Fahrenheit
Properties: Antiinflammatory, Antibiotic, Antifungal

cannabigerol (CBG)
Boiling point: MP52
Properties: Antiinflammatory, Antibiotic, Antifungal

?-8-tetrahydrocannabinol (?-8-THC)
Boiling point: 175-178*C / 347-352.4 degree Fahrenheit
Properties: Resembles ?-9-THC, Less psychoactive, More stable Antiemetic

tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV)
Boiling point: < 220*C / <428 degree Fahrenheit
Properties: Analgesic, Euphoriant

I have been trying to make my own oils with VG based oils...I grimd then decarb @ 250 for 30 mins. Then I pour just enough VG to cover the top and seal it in a mason jar. I then cook it in a double boil @170°f for 8 hours. Is there anything I could do to change the way it taste? Comes out kinda harsh and burnt tasting.

Thanks for your time,
~jh~

Hi Bill, can I ask please - do mean equal e.g. 30g herb : 30mls glycerin? What units do you equate for mass to volume?
