Beginners question

A really basic beginners question about growing outdoors.

Not sure my photo will post but if it does, you will see what I believe to be a male pod that has opened to disperse its pollen. Yes?

So, I’m not growing to produce seed and I know that males will need to be pulled but, it’s really hard for me to cut down this 6 foot beauty and just trash it. Are males good for anything besides fertilizing females? Yeah, I know that’s naïve question but I gotta ask.

Robereno, it's all relative. I've smoked dry brown bottom leaves from a 6' male plant growing outdoors in South Orange County in California and gotten high. I don't remember how long the high lasted, but it was definitely affective. In fact, because of the situation, one of my most lucid memories from the time.

At the very least, you should be able to process him into cannabutter.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if its as good as some of the stuff we had back in the 60's. I might give it a try with my vaporizer. But I've got 6 other plants, hopefully females, and I'll need to pull the male pretty soon before they flower.

i grew my males for a little while after i determined thier sex and dried them out for cooking purposes. you wont get much butter though if you want it to be potent.

i just pulled 2 males 3-4 days ago and smoked some last night. 2 bowls in the bong and it got me pretty high. lasted for about 30 mins, its not the best and will be pretty harsh but when its all ya got itll do the job

what ive done with my males in the past is dry them out. crush up all the leaves and let them soak in grain alcohol for a day.

THen comes the tricky part, i then filter out the liquid with a coffee filter into a Pyrex cooking dish(what you would use for brownies) from here what i do is light the mixture on fire for a bout 3 mins and then put it out with a flat cookie pan, let cool. then you can repeat the process and when you are done burning off all the liquid you are left with a greenish black oil. smoke the hell out of it ive gotten a decent amount of hash oil i guess you could call it from this process.

I cut down 3 large males the other day and was about to throw them out till the wife stepped in. She’s drying them out though even she’s not sure what her ultimate plan is for the stuff.

Being essentially lazy, I just don’t see myself doing all the work required to produce butter or hash. But if she wants to try, it’s fine with me. I’ll let ya know.
