^correct. The colours are water soluble and not taken up when making the butter, but most butters have contaminants, so some colour may show. Purple butter eh. I will have to check this lol. Good question!

Hi, Awesome post. I am a new smoker and new to this forum so I am trying to learn as much as possible. Around my area there are a lot of people saying they have purple haze but then they say the bud does not have to be purple and it can be green. Is this true?

I guess you could grow a purple haze without it being purple, but then I would be questioning the grower as to why. Here is a pic of purple haze.

Fuck the colour, it has nothing to do with quality. Purple has been a marketing windfall for seed companies and dispensaries. Buy your seeds on the basis of strain, taste, potency, and ease of growing. Forget about purple and you will do just fine.

Well actually what about just buying the bud and not seeds what would I be looking for then? Sorry I didn't make it so clear on my last post but I want to know the details when purchasing nuggets.

Ok, again forget about the colour. As I said, colour is no indicator of quality pot. The only way to tell is examine the bud you are buying. Look for aroma, crystals, density, etc. The only way to really know if a bud is good, is to smoke it. If you like it, buy more. If not, try another dealer.
There is no hard and fast rule when buying pot, and the old saying "Caveat Emptor" applies. (let the buyer beware). NEVER just go on colour.

Thank you for your help, I know it really isn't based on color but I just always though purple haze and such had to be purple or at least a tint of purple color. I will be chipping in w/ a friend for an Oz and purple is just so rare around here and I wanted to make sure I'm getting what I'm paying.

Mate, how many times do I have to tell you. Forget about the purple pot. You will be paying a premium for the colour, NOT, and I repeat NOT, for the quality and/or potency of the pot you are buying. Save your hard earned money and buy some good. plain green, pot. You will likely get a better deal, and not be in for a disappointment. As I said, purple pot is a marketing ploy. Please listen to the words of experience here, and don't get duped by clever marketing of the colour.

Its a shame actually... Super dank, snow white, crystalline buds will sit by while a bag of nasty purple sells to high heaven. No one smokes anything before they buy it anymore... too bad really.
