Just wandering? Through Selective Breeding Can you make great weed from crap bag weed? and doing it by keeping it in the same family no hybridizing cross breeding ect. I would think so. But I have been reading that when you pollinate and make seed it diminishes the quality.

It lowers the quality of "that bud crop" not the genes that that crop contains.
(Well, unless you bred Low quality parents)
Since the "power of the plant" goes into producing seed rather than making Buds.

That makes sense. So a bud thats covered with seeds wont have as much bang as another bud on the same plant that wasn't pollinated right. And as far as the selective breeding goes lets say you grow 10 plants lets say 5 male 5 female all the same strain and lets say genetically that strain is just not very potent. Could you take the best 1 plant out of the female group and best one out of the male group use it to pollinate that female and say 5 generations later could you possibly have a improved version of that strain or a new strain entirely?

its interesting. i've got no tech input. i'm just wondering why bother growing "crap bag weed"? why not just get some decent seeds? although i remember seeds being hard to come by too. but still, in the time it would take to grow 5 generations you could probably find seed. i'm just wondering.

I personally would not take on a project like this and yes it would make alot of sense just getting good seeds to begin with. I have just been wandering what is possible, what potency can be reached,the characteristics of the plant its self,yield ect. I mean all the stuff thats out there now had to get to where it is some how. I ask the same ?? even with the best weed out there. Could you take the best and make it better through selective breeding? If you look at corn for example a long time ago corn did not even look like corn it looked like a type of grass and through selective breeding it came to be corn as we know it and not to mention there is different corn for different things like popcornYUM.

Simple answer,
yes.
It's called Evolution
You breed parents with the traits you want and it's reflected in the offspring
But Not All offspring !!!
That's Where the "Selective" part comes in.

yes and no. You could improve on the original genetics a bit, but with no diversity in your gene pool you cant get much beyond the apple tree you started with. Im not a pro, but i breed reptiles for a living. i have a good grasp of genetics.
