Does light have an affect on germination ?

What affect if any does light have on the germination process/outcome?

I germ in the dark. Just did 20 seeds with 100% germ success.

Think about how it happens in nature.

The seeds are in the dark, under the dirt. When the temp and moisture is right, they germinate and pop. As soon as they break the surface they are in full sun or however much light is available.

I germ in the dark and move to full sun as soon as they break the surface. I keep them outside till I have 3 or 4 sets of true leaves, then bring them in.

Do not grow for a bit inside and then try to take them outside without hardening them off. They will get cooked in the strong light.

Are you germinating for soil or hydro, mate?

My primary concern would be soil although I've been looking into hydro more and more and may want to dabble in hydro in the future. Just preperation really. Gettin everything together takes a while and no matter what i think i know it's never enough. Im always learning something new on here

roots dont like light, so for germination, no light = better results
