The Wellness Connection of Maine is voluntarily recalling two strains of medical marijuana.

The Wellness Connection of Maine says while medical marijuana is legal under Maine state law, it has not been federally approved.

In the absence of national industry-wide or state-mandated “generally accepted practices” for testing cannabis, the Wellness Connection of Maine has created stringent internal quality standards based on data from the American Herbal Pharmacopeia.

They say based on self-imposed guidelines and after reviewing recent test results, they are voluntarily recalling a portion of a recent harvest of the “Blue Dream” and “L.A. Confidential” varieties because of higher than accepted levels of microbes.

The Wellness Connection of Maine says the small group of patients impacted is being contacted by mail. They are offering to refund the purchase price or replace their medicine. They have not received any reports of adverse effects related to the use of the products.
