Wood or bamboo vinegar as a soil amendment?

I was at my local nursery recently and noticed a couple of products in the organics section that I'm not familiar with. The products are wood vinegar and bamboo vinegar. I did a google search and it appears that these products are supposed to help with nutrient uptake, improve water tension, assist with the proliferation of beneficial soil microorganisms, and there are claims of improved flavor in fruits and veggies as well as increases in fruit sizes. It also appears that these products are best used in very low dilution rates i.e. ppm's so extreme care would need to be used when mixing. It also seems that both products contain some naturally occurring chemicals that may or may not be carcinogenic.
Has anyone used either of these 2 products? If so, any noticeable results?
