The Joy of Vaporizing

Marijuana, an effective form of botanical medicine, has few side effects that impact health and wellbeing. However, the most common mode of delivery, smoking, presents a health care concern. Smoke from marijuana contains many of the same chemicals and carcinogens found in tobacco smoke. There is no definitive evidence indicating how much smoke causes damage, just that inhalation of tar and other compounds is associated with increased cases of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, ect. 3, 4 Donald Tashkin, MD, a previous opponent to marijuana smoke reversed his claims that marijuana smoke causes cancer in a report to the International Cannabinoid Society. In fact, he states that the evidence may show a protective effect of marijuana smoke.

The effects from inhaled marijuana are felt within minutes from only a few inhalations, unlike tobacco which only delivers small amounts of nicotine per puff, requiring many repeated inhalations. The vaporizing method was invented in 1996. Vaporization is a method in which the cannabis plant is heated to approximately 150 C, a temperature lower than that required for combustion, but not enough to change the beneficial chemicals from a solid to a gas. This allows the inhalation of beneficial vapor that has less of the harmful hydrocarbons and tars that are produced as part of smoke with the burning of plant cellulose. This means that the lungs are not being exposed to tar nor carcinogens and the patient's risk of developing any long term lung problems is greatly reduced 1.

The vaporizer is still an inhalation method and has all the benefits of smoking; rapid effectiveness means relief from pain, nausea, and anxiety within minutes. The vaporizer heats the medicine slowly allowing the patient to gently inhale medicinal vapors. The effect last from 2-3 hours, the vapors can be more potent than smoke and take effect with fewer inhalations, making the most of a small amount of medicine. The vapors are mild and do not taste like smoke. Some smokers may feel that they are not getting the same quality of inhalation, simply because they are not breathing in smoke. This takes some time to getting use to.

thought this was worth a bump

I didn't know vaporizing has only been around since 1996!

Suddenly I feel so blessed to be living right now. I simply can't handle smoking weed (or anything else for that matter), so vaporizing is all I've got. I guess I could eat the stuff, but brownies are always a little disappointing.

Yay vaporizers!

My wife & I have a great vaporizer~~
We should use it more~~the effects
from the vapors really do seem to
get me higher a lot longer~~great
for people who a hard time smokin~~
PEACE OUT~~

I have had a Volcano Vaporizer for almost three years now. It had brought me nothing but pleasure.
I love testing different types of herb to experience their "true flavors".
My lungs feel great and I can take HUGE rips! Why is there not a guy hittin a volcano vape bag?!?!:bongrip:

+REP to happykitty for starting such an important thread.

I just bought a volcano I have only used settings 5.5-6 and after like 3 or 4 bags I empty it. I thought the weed was suppose to look brownish when its kicked. I can even still see all the red hairs that haven't been singed. Is this normal?

If you go up to 7, it will start browning some, but after that, you risk burning leaf matter, which is counter productive... my bag is about 2 feet long, I fill the chamber about halfway with fully grinded herb... first bag on 5, second bag on 5.5, third bag on 6, fourth bag on 6.6, fifth bag on 7, then discard... hope this helps...;)

Ah thanks that seemed to do it. Do you think you get the full taste out of the vaporizer? Might just be me needing to get use to not actually smoking.

How much of a smell do you get from doing this?
Like if i was to put something really skunky into a vaporizer, how much would it smell up a room?
