more light?

Hey guys, I'm growing 4 plants, 2 whitewidows and 2 northern lights from

nirvana. I'm growing in a homebox that's 4 x 4 x 7, using a 400hps, and I

have 3 fans going to keep the temperature at about 85 degrees. I've used

Dyna-Gro Liquid Grow (7-9-5) once, and 2 days ago I added Rare Earth

(premium organic silicate with granular leonardite). My plants look healthy,

but I feel they should be bigger. The tallest is about 7 inches with 5 sets of

nodes. Should I add light? What type of lights? thanks

How far from the plants are your lights?

Do you have access to a camera? Photos will help.

Have you checked the PH?

If you can lower the lights without the plants getting too warm, that would be very good.. It looks like you are doing some LST, very nice, but it will slow growth up a bit.

How old are the plants? They look about 20-25 days.

You are on 24/7 now right? Or are you doing 12/12 with lighting? If you get a chance, bring in a halogen to take pics, or shut the lights off for a second and use the flash so we can see the colors. It will help a lot to determine if there is a nute issue, because your lighting may be just fine. I really think that 400watt is sufficient for that space.

I did have the lights about 6 - 8 inches lower, but I decided to raise them to encourage them to stretch a little. They're on 18-6. The residue on some of the leaves is Rare Earth. Got a little messy in there.

They look very healthy! What kind of soil you got there?

There is sometimes a fine line between maximizing light, and letting them stretch. Generally speaking, if you get some residue on the leaves, just use some PH neutral water and spray them off good, tops and bottoms. Just make sure there are no big water droplets that can make a mini magnifying glass and burn them.

Oh ya, do you know how old they are now?

I think they look healthy, and sometimes it takes a bit for them to hit that growth spurt that tells you they love you!

You can always add CFL full spectrums if you really feel you need more light though.

the soil sucks! .. I should have mixed my own. 3 of them have Shwertz(?) potting soil from Home Depot. 1 of them is in Black Gold (alot better by the way). She's almost 2 weeks younger than the older girls but they're about the same size.

I think this is my last time vegging with hps. I was reading *****'s Grow Diary and he got 24 inches in a month using 1000w MH. That's fucking nuts! Even people that use a bunch of cfls get more growth than 7 inches in a month.

Anyway, I think I'm just gonna do what you recommended and give them some time to hit that growth spurt. I might start looking for that seaweed tonic that worked so well for *****, just for shits and giggles.

Just got home from the grow shop and got new stuff. I bought a metal halide bulb that's compatible with my hps ballast (I know there's a term for that but I haven't gotten there yet). And also some Ohrstrom's Maxicrop Luiquid Seaweed.

Needless to say, I'm fuckin excited! Pictures are coming, thanks for the imput guys.

My house isn't gonna burn down is it guys? Look how nice and bright that mHbulb makes the room! ... Hey *****, do you think I can use the seaweed as a foliar spray too? Doesn't give directions on using it that way.

I stressed them out once before. Fed them a little too much Dyna-Gro in the beginning. So I've laid off ever since. But I did give them Rare Earth yesterday with their watering. How do you think I should approach with the seaweed?
