Hi all,
I have a question about soil. My mother plants are about 1 year old and have grow well in the same soil. Now the grow is a little stunted so i check the Ph of the soil. I measure Ph 4,9. I always water my plants with GH and Ph around 6.0 How is it possible that the soil measure 4,9? I have no space for bigger containers. Is it possible to cut off about 70% of the old soil with roots and fill it up with fresh soil? Or is this really the end and need i new mothers. Thanks in advance, C. |

Re: Ph mother plants
4.9 is not good. You should adjust accordingly. You can transplant the mother plants into fresh soil, however you should not remove any roots. When I have a mother going I find that she is more vulnerable to damage depending how old she is.

Re: Ph mother plants
Thanks Boss and StonerGrower, now i still have to choose one of the answers:-)
In the meantime i took one mother and trim her roots and fill it up with fresh soil. Just too see what happen. Can one of you tell me why the rootzone have Ph 4,9? I always feed my plants around 6,0 |

Re: Ph mother plants
Salt buildup from months of nutes. At the plant uses the nutes, the unwanted leftovers are used, and the bacteria around the roots also lowers the ph as they do thier job. At least this is my understanding.

Re: Ph mother plants
You may get some yellowing after the roots are trimmed, but rest assured, it's for the better of the momma, and she will recover quickly.
