Unless it normal for ur particular strain, its an indication of a problem. If it were genetic I'd think that the stems would always be purple. Purple stripes and purple stem/petioles are often a sign of phosphorus (P) deficiency. Click the "Follow My Grow (1st Journal Completed)" link in my signautre. Look at pics of mine and tell me do they look similar. Once you're in my journal U can use the "search this forum" tool (mid upper right hand corner of the screen) and type deficiency as the keyword or phosphorus. and it should narrow it down for u.
