Two Minnesotans are behind bars in Pennington County after authorities say they confiscated 85 pounds of marijuana from the suspects during a traffic stop on Thursday.
According to the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy stopped the Toyota Tundra for speeding eastbound on Interstate 90 near mile marker 70.
During the stop, the deputy smelled marijuana, and a search of the pickup found the weed.
Authorities arrested 50-year-old Lao Songying of Minneapolis and 41-year-old Yia Yang of St. Paul for possession of marijuana more than 10 pounds and intent to distribute one pound or more of marijuana.
The Unified Narcotics Enforcement Team is investigating.
