I’d get rid or the coco/soil, it’ll end up in your solution guaranteed! Just roll with pellets or something clean. Root rot is your 1 enemy in this setup imo. Use h202 and keep a couple of inches dry at the brim, the more air to the roots the better. Never turn if your bubblers! And stay clean good luck.

Thanks. I ended up using pearlite, becouse I didn't have access to hydroton other than shipped. I didn't want to pay shipping on a wheelbarrel full of hydroton when I just needed a little bit.
I finally made a trip to the hydro store to get nutes and I forgot to pick it up..
I just picked up some black airlines and new airstones too. So far I haven't had any big problems, accept the clear airlines are getting nasty.
So far i haven't used any h2o2, when I do a resavoir change I do switch to a clean tote. Im hoping that along with the new airlines will keep it clean.
I have 3 totes and a transfer pump.
I mix my nutes in an empty and then drain the tote that im using, switch the lid to a clean empty tote, then fill it with the new nute mix.
Im using ro water and it takes me a couple days filling a new tote. I leave a seperate airstone going in the new mix as I get it ready. It's a little complicated but im in a pretty tight space.

Hi it does sound familiar, but what’s a tote? Is that a bucket? Any way I am doing similar thing but filtration and it takes a while to prep water/nutes change overs, it’s a labor of love so I don’t mind. However sadly I nearly lost all of my plants recently as the rot hit fast and I didn’t realize how easily it could sink my ships. I have since been using hydrogen peroxide food grade diluted to my mix and it’s knocked out the nasties! From know on in any dwc I grow I will use it to some degree. However if you want those micro’s around add a day or two before nute changes/cleans to balance the ecosystem. The h202 breaks down pretty quick and adds a good extra supply of o2 to the root zone.
