Correct... Gnatnix apprently works great but it's hard to get here in Canada online. Closest store is 45 minutes away.
It's mainly 100% recycled glass so I'm trying this out as an experiment. I'll monitor the amount of gnats on the yellow stickies for the first week, then change them out and go for another week. Hopefully I can eliminate the life cycle thus eliminating the gnats.
You can view the progress in my current journal if you like.

Yeah I hear you. I've been fighting them for awhile now. Little buggers. I'm about an hour out of red deer Alberta, I have to make a trip and get some nematodes and more sticky traps etc.
In theory, the insulation should work as apparently sand would also do the trick to stop the adults from lining in the top layers.
Exactly! So hopefully it works. I like this option over the sand as I can remove it to water and just place it back on when done. I really didn't know what to expect with watering on top of the sand. I also sprayed the top layer with a water and castile soap mix after feeding.

Hey brutha..
I trashed the test after several others said it probably wasn't a good idea to have it in the tent. What I thought was a good idea probably wasn't after all
I'm using Mosquito Dunks and haven't really had a chance to determine if they are working or not as it works on the eggs. It may be a week or so before knowing. Others have had great success so we'll see.
Thanks for checking in but stay away from the fibreglass

I don't really know yet. I would imagine it may be a couple of weeks before I know for sure. I have a fan blowing on the top of the soil as well and it would appear that my stickies don't seem as filled, but that could be good wishing
