The best predator for aphids is Aphidoletes. Produced by insectaries all over the world.
Some producers have a hanging vial that you just clip onto the stems and they release the adults over a few days. Then the next week you have these little red larvae moving around the plant eating aphids...
Best bang for buck is using natural predators Stratiolaelaps scimitus for soil and Neoseiulus fallacis for foliage. Won't have spider mite, fungus gnats, root aphids, springtails, thrips unlikely, broad mite, russet mite, and more, and just the one application right at the start during...
I would replace that with a tube of Stratiolaelals scimitus mites. Works at controlling all soil pests for the life of the plant. Put it in at propagation. Also reduces cycling of foliar pests like thrips by 80%+.
Don’t know where you’re looking but should have about $150 for the entire life of the plants. Usually works out less than spraying and you won’t have any chemicals on the crop.
Shiny on the top side? You got broad mites. If you have damage, it’s going to be hard to rescue the plants. This is why you should have Stratiolaelaps in the soil and Fallacis and Cucumeris on the plants, which will cover you for broad mites, russet mites, spider mites, thrips, fungus gnats...
Blast them with water. Blasting them off can break off their mouthparts which are tubes they stick into your plant and suck out the goods. That’ll slow them down.
There’s lots of natural aphid predators produced in Canada in B.C. Aphidoletes is probably the best choice.
Soaps and oils end up...
Any pics?
Could be beneficial guys eating some root pests.
For future, you should introduce Stratiolaelaps scimitus at the propagation stage and they’ll persist in the soil for the life of the crop, feeding on all sorts of soil pests like fungus gnats, root aphids, thrips pupae, overwintering...
Ladybugs was bad advice.
What your need for spider mites is Persimilis. Persimilis on bean leaves from the Canadian producer would be best. Persimilis never lose against a spider mite infestation, so long as there’s no pesticides being used. To prevent future spider mite outbreaks, put...
Another thing that could be taking out or slowing down seedlings is fungus gnats. You might see the adults flying around or not, but the larvae may be on the roots munching hard. Should always get Stratiolaelaps scimitus introduced to the crop right at propagation which will mean no fungus...
Can avoid all sprays like this by using natural predators produced here in Canada. Fallacis when you first start growing, then persimilis if you get a hot spot. Never fails unless there’s pesticides being sprayed, less expensive if used preventativly, and so much cleaner.
Whaaaat... dudes. Spider mite is never a problem. Step one, never use pesticides, oils, or soaps. Spider mite loves stressed plants and they’ll be back with a vengeance soon if you do use that stuff. What you need is natural predators in small amounts. Use persimilis if you have a spider...
