In case anyone was wondering... the results of my experiment have been fantastic. The final product is "amber", which can be either powder or a solid piece. My pics below are of the powder form: It's wicked stony and a little goes a long way...;)

I tried to post on here the other day but apparently my browser is acting up, so I switched to another... anyway, My advice to you is to get your cfls as close to your plants as you can without burning the leaves. Usually an inch or two is safe for cfl's and at least 16" for H.I.D...

Moot point now... just have to keep on keepin on...

I believe "medical" in this instance refers to potency, which is largely contributed to the strain grown. Indoor growing is expensive, unless you have free or highly discounted electricity, so I don't really see that the indoor prices can go down too much, but I do think it will fall...
