ec reverse omosis

hello there Ive just measured my tap water with a EC meter and it reads 0.4 i found a site that converts EC to ppm and it says its 280 in a book i have it recommends getting a reverse osmosis machine if the water is over 300 ppm do you think i will be alright with out one for now? have a look...
