1 Mother: 1 5x5 Tent!

Hey all you growers out there I’m throwing one of my mothers into flower very soon to see how she does after giving me plenty of cuttings in the past, and I think it’s just time to put northern lights in the line up for next indoor harvest. I was just going to consider throwing the flower switch on her right away since she’s plenty mature enough to produce what I want,,,, buttt I was a nucklehead and got too excited and after transplanting her into her final 15 gallon pot from a 5 gallon I put her into the tent with the full spectrum leds and didn’t raise my lights like the nuckle head that I am and she got a little sun burnt. She’s been reciting under a t5 about a couple inches from the light for a long time now , but that sudden change in habitats from lights did a number on a lot of the leaves so I’m nursing her back to her full potential before I enter her into flower. On that note I also will mention some funny stuff that happened to end this first entry into this journal!! Lol well I’ll start by saying I switched my soils to a buddy’s of mine that owns the hydroponic store near me, and let’s just say I might have gotten one of his prized genetics in this live soil mix that I started to use because he mixes the soil on spot in shop and must have dropped a bean in there on accident haha things like this make me smile!!! Haha haha!!!!hint I put up a pic of the little one still in the 15 gallon pot lmao. Of course I will be removing her from the pot with northern lights..

....Gotta love free beans! :) ...Wonder what strain it is?
Haha I know right!! He’s been talking of having some gorilla number 4 so I’m crossing my fingers lol from what I’ve heard the number 4 is hard to come by these days now! I’ve still got to go to my buddy and show him and maybe he might have a better idea of what it could be but it’s going to be a mystery run one day when I have the space lol!

Update!! First layer of trellis is now up as of this morning, and now just waiting for her to start praying again! I’ve been nursing her back to health after her little fight with the lights, but she’s doing great now and adapting to the new habitat as we speak. I’ve been taking care of the burnt leaves and making sure to slowly remove all the sick leaves so that her focus is back to growing healthy leaves again before I flip the switch on light schedules for flower. If anyone can notice my goal is to bring the stress level down in order to bring back the green main stems, because they took a little hit and are now red meaning she’s a little upset with the change in food and habitats in my honest opinion. More updates to come I’ll be putting one more trellis up before I throw her into flower and then possibly one more trellis once the stretch has set in!!

Update!!! Northern lights is still in veg and I’m currently nursing her back to her full potential. She’s been sick ever since I introduced her to the new environment, but on that note she’s also coming back like a rocket!! I’ve been removing all the leaves that had deficiency’s in them slowly but surely and she’s now bringing in her knew coat of armor of leaves. Some of her main stem is still a little toooo red for my liking in order to flip the switch for flower, so I’m giving her a little more time to heal some more before entering her into flower..

I love this !!!
Maximizing the potential of one plant in my experience has far out produced any attempt to pack a tent with 10 different beans, unless they are autos I guess. My latest attempt to do this is my king tut journal in my sig
Anyways,
can’t wait to see how this big girl ends :thumb: :goodluck: :Namaste: !!

Thanks for all the love my friend!! And let’s not forget to mention all the room for activities lmao!! Plus all the maintenance and extra nutrients you have left over that wasn’t wasted to try and pack 4-8 girls in a 5x5 tent!!

Update!!!! Northern lights is starting to come along very nicely!! I’m starting to see some more green coming out of the main stems but not 100% there yet!! So flower is coming very soon I’m thinking maybe next week I’ll be flipping the switch!! Her canopy is now filling up the trellis space and the second trellis will coming up very soon so that I’m able to train her to stay low since I’m growing her in my 5x5 tent set up with a 6ft ceiling!!! Currently I’m updating the flower room and in their I have 8-1/2 ft to work with which where I would have ideally put her in there to grow being that she is a beast of nature, but it was time for a cleaning... so the tent will just have to do!! But back to talking about her situation at the moment!! She’s currently bringing in her new coat of armor and I have been removing all her sick looking leaves slowly but surely so that she’s back to her full potential before I flip her into flower. More updates to come!!

Update!!! Great update I must admit!!! It’s time lady’s and gentlemen for the this lady to enter into flower!!!!!!! I’m happy with how her main stems are back to green from the red deficiency’s she experienced once I switched her lighting and habitats. On that note she’s getting her second trellis today and I’ll show her improvements once I have that all up and she’s happy again. Because of course if you grow with trellis the first couple days is a depressing time to be looking at her canopy after it’s first installed!! I did a final defoliation and major unwanted branching disposal last night before I start the 12/12 feeding regimen tomorrow! But being that this girl is a beast of nature I’m expecting a lot more leaf and branch removal in the near future once stretch has begun to set in.. I’ll admit I’m going to have a crazy mess once she starts to do her thing ,but this is just an experiment and I’m hoping and praying I have the vertical space to finish her out without much rigging because she’s got a very large number of main tops that are peaking threw and I can just see a packed tent here in a couple weeks lmao!!!so cheers to hopefully a successful run!!!

Small update to make today! She’s starting to peak up and fill out her second trellis!! So it’s now time to take her training wheels off today and let her take off from here!!{ Hint hint!! Training wheels meaning all the training ropes that I use during veg to train them how I prefer them to be!! } once the stretch sets in this week I’m planning on doing one last major leaf and branch removal and hopefully slow the stretch down a tad bit in case she decides to reach for the stars and I get caught using up her last bit of vertical space left!! Lol I seem to always catch myself in this delema a lottt haha seems to work out in my favor in most cases. Lol but my first time growing indoors I can’t say the same haha I’ll just leave it as Goerge in the jungle trying to swing around in real life!! Goerge watch out for that!!! Treee haha I make myself laugh to much!! I’ll make my next update when it’s time to remove some leaf and branch’s which will most likely be in a few days from today!

Northern lights shouldn't stretch too much (under ideal conditions) so you should be good there. Very cool grow!
Thanks buddy!! I have not grown this strain yet! Even tho she’s a mother I personally have not taken any of the cuts myself to flower them out yet, but the ones I mentor at the moment. But they all say she’s not a huge stretcher but then again they also use hps and I do not so this is just one of them experiments I’m working on to see if my theory is correct with the stretching phase!!

Here's a northern lights i grew under an LED a few months ago. Minimal stretch, and yielded just over 6 oz (dry) of nice chunky buds. With all of the training you did she'll be great

She vegged and trained for a few months and flowered for 8 weeks. I actually discontinued this cut and started some new seeds because NL should usually finish in 10 weeks. Right now I'm focusing on an early afghani that's supposed to flower in 6 weeks...we will see!

I see I see! Nice well I’ll admit your northern looks yum brotha I can’t wait to see some bud production! I was hoping for a much lower flowering time being that is should also be an indica dominant but I guess since most stuff out in the market now is hybrids! I have a strawberry cough that finished in 6 weeks and I honestly was thinking it would be a much longer strain due to the sativa dominant in the genetics, but who knows lol it’s hard to predict these days the perfect time limit unless I guess you have grown it before or had a clone that you can compare too!

Update!!! She’s starting to throw pistols!!! Stretch has begun and canopy is definitely filling out the trellis department! The feeding schedule has begun for the flower stage and will most likely be doing some more leaf and branch removal here in the next couple days once I’m happy with what I see on the top canopy. With what I’m seeing on my space available I’m going to have to put another light in the tent to amp up the ppfd once buds set in! But I’ll make it due as long as I have enough vertical space.. more to come once I decide to do some defoliation on this fine lady!

Update! The stretch has begun!! I’ve done some branch removal{hint very small removal due to not knowing the stress levels this girl will bring out, and definitely don’t need any nanners popping up early in the game!!!} I’m definitely getting some nute burns on a couple leaves and I’m going to pin point that issue to the change in soils. But I guess I’ll have to be lowering her dose of Ppms to make up for the soil! No worries just a learning curve you have to make once you change up one thing in the garden you seem to run into a couple hiccups along the way... more to come!!

Update!! Had to do some cleaning up around the bottom of the canopy due to her looking a little sad with some leaves looking down and not praying like yesterday!! But all in all I’ve opened up some of the top canopy while I was cleaning up the lower section and the amount of tops this baby is going to have is crazy!!! Signs of bud spots stacking up and signs of early trichome production already showing up, so crossing my fingers this is going to be some impressive stuff after dealing with that small delay after I’ve changed the lighting and transplanted into a new live soil I changed too after using fox farm ocean and happy frog for as long as I can remember!! Last but not least I’ll be throwing another 200 watts of light into the 5x5 tent to keep up with the loss of ppfd on that outer edges here in the next couple days! More to come!!!
