1000watt ballast split to 2 lights

I was wondering if i am able to run 1000 watt ballast split to 2 lights then im going to put a timer between each light to ballast. I only want 1 light on at a time for 6 hours each 12 hours total so i wonder if i will have a problem when light switch over i already installed timer on my ballast but if i can split a ballast and get 2 lights out of it i can save on not buying twice as many ballast

It Is possible bit you would have to make sure you have like a 30 second gap to make sure the light is really off so when the other turns on it won't mess the ballast up
