DIAMOND BAR, Calif. An estimated $12.5 million worth of marijuana was found in a Southern California home Wednesday, reports CBS station KCBS-TV in Los Angeles. Authorities say the home may be part of a large-scale operation in affluent neighborhoods throughout the area.

A search warrant was served in the upscale suburb of Diamond Bar, Calif., at about 3:20 p.m., sheriff's deputy Anthony Moore said. About 2,100 plants were seized from the 7-bedroom home, some of which were valued at as much as $5,000 each on the street.

A 43-year-old man was arrested at the home, but he claimed he did not live there, Moore said.

A tip from a neighbor led authorities to the home, which was equipped to produce high-quality marijuana plants.

The bust was reminiscent of 10 recent raids the federal Drug Enforcement Administration conducted in Northern California at homes in wealthy suburbs, Moore said.

"Detectives believe that because of the amount of plants in grow that this location could possibly be part of a larger scale operation taking place in other affluent neighborhoods in Southern California," Moore said.
