You can, but you'll have to wait 14-21 days before it starts flowering, your yield will be significantly reduced. The best time to flip is after 6-8 weeks.

That depends on your strain and if you train your plant. If you flower before 8th or 10th week you're gonna lose an OZ probably speaking very theoretically.

no training with 12/12 from seed, and with all due respect, you are speaking theoretically, whereas I am speaking from actual experience of having done this with 6 different strains, both auto and photo

You can do it, and it certainly won't hurt your plants. However, as others here have stated, you'll get better yield with longer veg times. Its simple, longer veg times = bigger more mature plants = more bud sites = bigger yield.
