Hi there i was wondering, can i use a 150mm fan with a reducer down to an 100mm carbon filter i was going to fit a varispeed plug to the fan to adjust speed is this ok i just think a 150mm filter is overkill but a 150mm fan came cheap, is this ok to do, input welcome
You can use reducers to connect up different sized things all you want as long as you do it correctly. What you don't want to do is overrun the filter. For example if you have 400CFM filter and have a 500CFM fan you need a speed controller to run that fan speed way own. if you run faster than 400CFM you will damage the fan (very slowly) and also get unfiltered air coming out of the exhaust.
Thanks for your reply my friend i will check the cfm and get a fan controller its going to be cheaper than a 150mm carbon filter plus like i said its overkill
