So for those of you who suck at cloning you might have some interest in my search to prefect my cloning. Gotten some equipment to help monitor and ensure proper calibration.
Timer 4 off 1 on
Amazon: Titan Controls 702635 Apollo 3 Fixed Cycle Timer
Ph + Temp + EC or TDS
iMeshbean® 6 in 1 Water Testing Meter - Ph PPm Temp Tds Ec Cf with LCD Screen
Calibration Liquid
My cloners I am using for this one are igloo coolers that have been turned into cloners. One is a 24 hole and second is a 45 hole. They hold temps well and with the new timers they lose a lot of heat build up that I was battling. My first goal is to test tempratures out so I ran the small one at 75 - 85 degrees with the median temp being 80.5. The second one the larger and better insulated one I ran from 65 - 75 degrees with median on this one hanging around 68. I am running with clonex solution at 300 ppm, and my ph setting around 6.0. I started with 0 ppm R/O DI. I choose to go a tiny bit high on my ph as I measured it at 75 degrees and as temps go down so will the ph slightly.
So I took 24 clones 3 different varieties and split them in half placing 12 in one and 12 in the other and trying my best to match sizes and the like.
Currently 5 days in and the results are
High temp 2 of 12 left alive after 5 days completed
Lower temp 2 of 12 looking a little wilted and other 10 look fresh and crisp still
I would have to say that there is a significant results. So a 16% alive rate on one and the other at 84%.
Side note I use two liters to keep my cooler in the low 60's and takes a total of three 2L a day to keep the temps cool I typically drop 2 in before bed and one before heading into work and the temps never get above 74. The cooler + timer keep the water temps stabilsh only rising .5 degree an hour and each two liter typically drops the temp of around 6 gallons after 15 mins of emersion time down 5 degrees. So I get a temp fluctuation of 12 degrees in a day and a drop of 15 degrees a day so it does have a little bit of time you can play with to maintain temps in a certain range.
